My wife just returned from our Grandchildren's Band Concert. She took lots of pictures and wanted me to D/L them to my My Pictures folder. I putt the Memory Card in the Card Reader and D/L them to a designated folder. When I viewed them in the folder they were too dark to see. When I put the Memory Card back into the camera they could be seen clearly in the viewer on the camera. Does anybody have any solution or cause for this?

Sorry Bobby, apparently no one here has any solutions, suggestions or ideas. Don't know how many even use a digital camera. I have one but have not used it much.

With one set of pictures I took a while back the thumbnails looked very dark but when I expanded them to full size they looked ok. However, I never did print them so don't know how they would have looked printed.

I don't even own a digital camera, so I don't have a clue what might cause this...

My Nephew suggested that it may be in the resplution so I'm going to get Mrs. Bobby to take it to WalMart's Digital Print Department to see if their machine will correct and print it. I had tried going around the MS Scanner and Camera Wizard program to isolate the possible problem without any success. If I find a solution I'll post it here.

Ive never heard of that, maybe its malfunctioning. Try hooking the camera direct to pc if you have a cord with camera (USB) it should automatically detect what camera you have and download the pictures for you in "my pictures".

If you're plugging the card into printer its probably the printer malfunctioning. May need a new device driver or an update fix.

Aha! I finally found a solution to how to lighten the dark pictures. I used my Irfanview program to correct the darkness by using the "brightness", "Contrast" and "Gamma correction" adjustments. Below are before and after pictures.

I thought that your suggestion was a good one that would work and I was going to try it but I didn't have a power cable to fit my camera. My Canon S1 IS has a USB port and a power recepticle on the front of it for that purpose. My Daughter-In-Law has a Canon Rebel but it does not have these ports on it. I was surprised that it didn't. I was going to get a power cable and start D/L my digital pictures directly from my camera with it instead of using my Memory Card Reader but my nephew warned me about a hazzard using it like that. He used to do that but one day he had a bad connection because of a bad cord and it corrupted his Memory Card and he lost all of his pictures from the card. So........I will continue using my Memory Card for D/Ling pics with. Thanks for your help.

There is a delete option you can use from computer end to delete pics in camera and card, maybe thats what happenned to those lost pics. I have 10 card slots in printer and pc but I have never used them. I just plug into pc direct with both cameras.

I think you should have a port, don't all cameras?

Yes I have one on the lower front of my Canon S1 IS but my friend Mark said that his Canon Rebel does not have one. I'm like you. I bel9ieve his does have one. I'm gong to Canob's web site and check. I may try D/L ing using the power cord. One thing my book did say was to hook the USB cable directly into the PC and not into a USB Hub. I have run out of USB ports on the back of my PC so I have ordered a USB card with 4 USB ports on it. By adding the new card I will be able to do away with my USB Hub and the power strip that I had to use to get enough electric outlets. I use an APC Battery Back-up and I ran out of electric outlets on it.

I believe that the power port on my camera says 7.4 Volts. I'm going to see if I can order a cord online at Yiger direct,, Newegg or one of the reliable sites.[/b]
