While you've got that task manager open
This is risky for the really green beginners.
Click on "processes". You will get a list of files (processes) that are currently running. If you ever tried to delete a file (such as manually deleting a virus) and were told that you couldn't (access denied) because the file was running, you can stop it using this menu, and THEN delete it. You may only ever need to do this once,(hopefully never) but when you can't get rid of that offending file, it's maddening.
You usually have to do this with a virus or worm that "eats" your antivirus software. You want to get rid of that little nasty before reinstalling.
If you stop the wrong file by mistake it may be important(or not). Be careful not to delete it, and if your computer acts up you may need to reboot. |
