Dave, in my opinion not only should you uncheck DDCActive Menu but also uninstall it in Add and Remove Programs in Control Panel. Unless you personally installed this thing for some reason it's been forced on you and it's a spy, malware, evil, resource hog and one of your problems.
Here is one site that describes it but there are many more
http://process.networktechs.com/ddcactivemenu.exe.php
Wild Tangent is not always easy to get rid of, click the link under Removal Instructions: and follow what they say. You might not want to mess with the registry you can skip that but do all the rest. A registry clearner with take care of that registry entry.
Let me know if you have any problems getting rid of Wild Tangent.

Unchecking these programs or services does not disable them from working it only prevents them from starting up when the PC does. They should launch when you need them or click on a program that uses them.
You can uncheck SetDefaultMidi.
You can uncheck CTHelper, here is some info on it:
cthelper.exe is installed with Creative Labs Soundblaster Devices. It's purpose is to aid 3rd party developers create plugins/software for the card. In this way it is a non-essential system process and can be removed from the task-bar/startup.
You can uncheck ehTray. Here is info on it.
ehtray.exe is a process is the tray bar process for the Microsoft Media Center. It gives you easy access to the digital media manager. This is a non-essential process. Disabling or enabling it is down to user preference.
After stopping all these media managers from starting up maybe IE will display your images again.
All I have time for now, I'll look up more of those start ups later.

RB, I wasn't sure about wild tangent, I will uninstall it. It is for getting my TV guide updated or something. I never use it and it does cause problems, and it is the main reason I don't use my media center to watch TV.
I took your screan shot and placed it next to my window to uncheck what all you have unchecked and to get an idea. I unchecked about one third, and I will get a screan shot and ask you about the others.
Thanks for your help. I am self taught and I don't know a lot of basics. |

Uncheck:
KBD - uncheck this if you don't use the multimedia keys: kbd.exe is a process from Logitech which allows you to configure the additional keys on their multimedia keyboard products. This is a non-essential process. Disabling or enabling it is down to user preference.
NvCplDaemon - found this: System Tray icon used to change display settings, change the clock rate and memory speed for nVidia based graphics cards. This is unnecessary since you can easily configure these settings the way you want them in the Display Properties and not have to mess with them again. Also disable the "NVIDIA Driver Helper Service" if enabled as it can cause this entry to be re-enabled on re-boot (note that this service can also cause extreme shutdown delays if enabled)
