I got this heads up from Katy, it sounds pretty good, I've downloaded but have not installed it yet.

You highlight a word, snd press "control" and "L" (Or on MAC you hold control and click the word).

You are then taken to an internet site where you can get definitions and synonyms of the word.

I didn't get any spyware or viruses when I downloaded it, but it wouldn't hurt to do a virus check vefore running it.

This does sound like a handy program. There are many times when I need the synonym of a word but have trouble thinking of one...

WordWeb is good, too. It's a Windows program, that I've used for years. Hmmm... just noticed there's a new version, 4.0, and I've been using 2.2 for years. <G>

It's good. It's a thesaurus, has synonyms and antonyms, pronunciation, and definitions.

When I first read about this program I wondered if I could reach the "control" and "L" key at the same time. Because of my arthritis in my hands I can't. That makes me have to use both hands and press the mouse with my nose or chin. Challenging, but very awkward. I'm going to try doing it with a pencil in my mouth.

Bobby, you do know that there is a Control key on either end of the keyboard don't you? The Control key on the right is pretty close to the L key. Is that still a problem? A person without arthritis has a hard time realizing the limitations imposed by it.

That's a neat program, bigR! Neat that you an add words, definitions and stuff.

Now I don't know which I want. Do I understand this right, the one I posted uses the web to find what you are looking for

and

yours is a stand alone program that contains the works, definitions, etc? Yours can be used off line which is nice.

Yes it is still difficult to press the control (on the right) and the "L" key at the same time. I may look at the program suggested by bigR and see if it's easier.

OK I installed Wordweb and it works great. It puts an icon in your systemtray and whenever you want to lookup a word you click on it. It then brings up a Wordweb window. You out the word that you want to know about in the "Lookup box" and away you go. I like it because it is instantly available and you can use it off-line. I'm going to install Cleverkays and see how it works also.

Yes. RB. CleverKeys looks up the word on the Internet, and WordWeb is a stand-alone program you can use offline.

Bobby, one trick that I use with WordWeb is to highlight a word and copy it to clipboard. Then when I click on WordWeb, it automatically looks up that word. I don't have to type it in, or paste it in, it's already in there.

You can choose to have WordWeb in the system tray or not. I chose not to, so I put a shortcut to wwnotray.exe on my QuickLaunch toolbar.
