I recieved an email with a file that had to be opened to view it. I clicked on "open" and it was opened with OpenOffice. What do I have to view the contents?

| In Open Office 2, you should probably use Impress to open the file. The .pps file is a Microsoft Office Powerpoint presentation file, probably a slide show. If you have a different version of Open Office, check its help files to see what module can open Powerpoint files. |

You can also download and install a free Power Point Viewer from Microsoft. Then whenever you click a PPS file it will open and display the slide show.

If there is audio in the file than you will hear it, if there isn't any audio in the file than you won't hear anything. Other than that I'm not sure what you are asking, I don't know what file you are talking about.
There may be an icon somewhere on the next page that you need to click in order for the sound to play if there is suppose to be sound and there isn't.
The program you use to open the file has nothing to do with whether you hear the sound, it would be inbedded in the file itself.
Does this help or am I misunderstanding you?

Instead of installing another program to view this Powerpoint presentation, just learn how to use OpenOffice...
Maximize the window so that all the options are showing at the top. You can maximize the window by double-clicking on the Title bar. Then click on the Slide Show option at the far right...
Since Presentations are slide shows, you normally move from page to page by pressing the space bar...
