I am continueing the thread here about hoggie's site and forum.

I went to download the site builder first page, and it had three choices, mirror 1 2 or 3. I downloaded the mirror one. Is that enough? What are the other ones?

I looked around a bit when it loaded, then closed it, and then another window with my files was open, I looked around some, then closed and got this error message saying it "must close down" error, if thats anything.

So skipping the forum download and all that, do I go to lunar now?

and ... should i look around and see if it changed anything?

I will be looking for something in the way of catchn kids page already made or a new page to test. I don't want to publish anything already made, I don't have matching files in my pc. I want a new website or page without affecting anything else in his lunar pages.

I won't do anything yet, I have to make toon and stuff. Thanks all.

Only thing I can help you with here is the "mirror" part. Yes, you only choose one, they all download the same program. Sometimes one site can be too busy to connect to so you have a choice of another one.

The error about closing down sounds like there may be a conflict with something or it could just be a fluke. I don't think anything was changed with the files you would have had to actually changed something in the files and then "Saved".

It seems to work, no problems, except I have to figure out the basics, and I guess its best to just keep looking, I am slowly learning.

I came across yet another forum like this, its my webhosts help forum, pretty wierd. Anyway, I have frinds in there that might be able to help if need be.

I think the structure works like this - I learn how to make a page in the first page thingy. Then I somehow use the file mang thingy to upload the webpage, not sure where yet in lunar, but it must be in there somewhere.

Building a page with codes isn't much fun, a lot to learn. Think I'll just look things over for a few days and see whats what everywhere, all these new places, I feel lost in a big city with no map or gps.

You should be able to create your own folder in Hoggies Lunar site and upload any file you create. That won't affect anything on his site...

Are you getting a handle on how his phpBB forum works???

Yes, NR, I just re-arramged the main page, and hopfully it is easier to navigate.

I think I know what your saying about folder upload, I am at the point that I need to get familar with thing before I proceed.

Thanks a bunch for pointing me in the right direction. I think I am starting to like this stuff, kind of fun but still a hair puller learning,

Once you jump in and get your hands dirty, it doesn't take long to understand how it all works. It actually is intuitive once you see how everything is organized...

Whats up - Today I checked a website on FTP mang., and I think I understand now how to get a page on lunar pages.

I made a webpage, just a banner, but I think I know how to do that much OK. And now I know how to upload on lunar.

My next question will be, how does the forum part work?

Maybe I could start a page on lunar, called "testing", and get a free pbb forum to test out how things work? I say that because I think Hoggie wants to have the catchnkids section as a seperate forum, and one that I can access, need to learn more about this forum part.

All for now, except I have been doing some major re-arranging on hoggies forum.

LOL, these people really take their fishing serious don't they! As I'm sure all fishermen do. You don't have a link on the left to your site?

I think it would be a good idea to create a test forum, fishead. That's what Blake does to test out new MODs.

Yes, a Test forum would be a very good idea. You can do all experimenting there and it won't affect the live board. If you decide you want to add the new functionality or display to the live board, it should be easy to do since your Test board should be a mirror image of your Live board...
