I hate it, it won't install all the way or something. In boxs I get the yes, no, cancel ut there is no text, anywhere. It is junk, it took over my files, i didn;t want or buy a file manger, its not windows, its roxio.

I have sonic dvd, junk, won't burn. i have my movie and half dozen dvd programs, alll suc, won't work. So my roxio saved me. now this new roxio 8 is the worse of all. I got ripped off. I have to remove it for the 4th time, this time im going back to roxio 6 and buying adobi premere elements. I will never recomend roxio again. They are sonic now, and they don;t even have a music plyer anymore.

its huge and took over my computer. 100 bucks out the door. i told em in their forum, they suc now.

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience but I know just how you feel I've been there done that, I guess it happens to all of us at one time or other.

Sometimes you wonder how some programs get out the door don't you?

I've had bad luck with Roxio CD software. After it made quite a few of my blank CDs into drink coasters and frisbees, I found Nero and I've never gone back...

I spent all day yesterday getting updates, as the pc nerd suggested, but still no text inside programs. I tried to download directx 9, but it just blinked off, so figured I already had it, but the updates for it took hours and I think I stillm don't even have it, I have 8.

so i'll be downloading more windows and hp updates for a week. The roxio has very hogh minimum requirments, and I'n not sure if my graphics card is bog enough, it is two years old.

I contacted roxio help, but no reply, so i went back to thier forum and told the world how it is going. They will regret me buying from them before its over, I have a big mouth.

I may have to give up and try the adobi s video elements software. I may try nero but I have tried so many I am sixk of experimenting, I have aways had good luck with adobi. I think what I need is a professional version of DVD software but can't afford. I don't have thousands to spend on pc equip. like so many others can, so I suffer with crap.

I got a 2 updates for graphics card, but there is one more, a tv program that I don't use, it will take all day. Then its try again for the driver update, but think I have them all. I also will get windows and hp updates on everything I think could help. Also I have to try again for directx 9.

The fubby thing is roxio put out an update, then removed it, now there is none. There is many pc nerds in there claiming success, but what do they make DVDs of, themselves sitting behind pc? What do they know. I hate those big companies shoving people off the the nerds.

bad news, my computer won't reboot now. My registry is corrupted and I don't know how to fix. I may have to reformat.

I got all the updates etc., still wouldn't work, so uninstalled it. I tried to install roxio 6, after reboot, and when completed, it rebooted but would boot up. So I went in safe mode and used go back. It loaded, but wanted the roxio 6 disc before it would continue. So I thought I'd get on line to tell everyone I am broke down, maybe a week or more. I have to try to back up the new stuff first, then if it won't reboot I am lost. I have the discs to reformat. I will lose tons of info, and some of clienst I need to get backed up. bye!

Fishead, do you have another PC? Can you put your HDD, as a slave, in another PC and read it? Maybe you can save your stuff that way?

Keeping my fingers crossed that this is not as bad as it seems right now. I don't have nearly all the important stuff that you have and I would be climbing the walls if that happen to me. I realy feel for you, fishead.

Jeez, what a mess. This was all caused from trying to install Roxio Creater 8? I don't think it's worth it even if you paid a lot for it...

Don't reformat anything until you have retrieved all that you need off of the HDD. Rosalie's suggestion is a good one so you really should follow her advice...

There is 3 types of recovory, I used one that saved my folders.

I got internet last nite, took all day to recover.

This morming I dialed up, installed norton, but it stopped and said I had 306 errors in registry, and go here and here.

The free version of registry mechanic only showed the errors, and only showed 160 or something. So I had to buy it for $30.

All is fine, except that other branch of reg mech. still showed 150 errors, and wanted another $30 to fix. I skipped.

I finished installling norton, and while updating I got a virous. It started sending out emails to people I never heard of. I shut down. I found norton isolated it. I got updates, and halfway thru I got the virous again.

So now I am running a sys scan, that will take awhile.

I am to the point now I am ready for the full reformat/recovery, but don't know how. Yesterday I gave a hard start and got the recovery option, but can't find how to do it now. Don't know what to do.

I also want to delete my inter and outlook ex., but can't find anywhere to uninstall, and when I insert the inter. essex disc, it won't do anything else, allready installed, so stuck with contaminated email.

This virous happened at 9:30, so all my cds and floppys should be OK. I won't lose much, just the win sevice pac 2 and all tat kind of stuff, I will be down for a week or more.

I tried to find a free version of that reg fixer, but none in HP or downloads.com etc., had to pay. Figures, you can get free anti virous but can't get a simple reg fixer. go figure. Maybe roxio gets paid by them, or owns them. There will be a suit from someone down the road, they can't get away with this. 306 errors on reggistry, thats ridiculas.

I would be happy to walk you through the reformat/repartition process if you want. I'm sure that Rosalie would too. Maybe the 3 of us can get together in AIM and work on it some night...

Thanks for the offer nr. A coworker of dians offered to help, but I had to learn it myself. I will try to list what I learned -

I installed roxio and wouldn't losd text etc.
Uninstall roxio, reinstall with less features - uninstall and reinstall the old roxio 6 and pc went to crap, kept installing roxio over and over.

Go back Recovery - didn't help; registry contaminated;

Reformat - mild recovory - lost sp2 and great problems started after installing and updating norton., Noticed 2 virouses in qureentene as I was uninstalling the old norton...probably on pc for some time, they might have been released;

(Reformat - startup - didn't put up win firewall and got virouses and error messages concerning registry while updating norton. bought registry fix for nothing, $30;

Reformat, same thing, 2 virouses and registry fried, woyuldn't reboot, been doing that more and more ever since updating to directx 9...? Keeps doing that after big downloads, but restarting a coiple times helps);

Reformat, go to HP first thing and find info on how to reformat.
Reformat, put up firewall, go to HP and spend one day getting all the updates required BRFORE SP2! This has everything to do with my graphics card and DVD programs. It was the cause of all my problems, but the good thing is I didn't reformat for nothing, now I can get pc up to date and should last another 2 years.

After about 40 hours of trying to get sp2, I finally get it all last nite. Keeps having problems resarting, get black screen, push esc and F2 seems to help, then restart a couple few times then OK, for now. This is windows problems.

All is fine now, I am going to put roxio 8 back on tomorrow, I will use today to set a recovery point.

So all my problems are because my pc wasn't up to date. When I tried to get updates this last two years, windows would go all the way through it and then tell me I al;ready had it, so one more of those and I gave up on win updates. HP had updates, but couldn't use with sp2 already installed.

I have reformatted many times, but this pc is a big, no huge job. I need the sp2 disc, takes 8 weeks to get it. This takes too long. I may never want to reformat again without it. Does anyone have a copy I can have?

Does anyone in here have a copy of windows sp2 I can buy? Or trade for?
