Come on, Blake. Just use common sense and quit trying to be argumentative. No one is out to get you or anyone else. I just want people to stop posting ludicrous replies to people's posts saying essentially, "Why do you think what you think?" That kind of question is irrelevant and will not lead to any philosophical revelations. - Philip Dyer
Here in lies the problem Philip. I am not trying to be argumentative at all. I really need to seek clarification because I am the one who will probably get banned by a rule that targets people like me who are inherently curious. I think asking questions is good and promotes understanding. You think it is argumentative. So how can people like me survive in SE when our perceptions of reality are so vastly different from yours???

Exactly what is wrong with asking people why they think the way the do? If a person doesn't want to answer, they can simply ignore the question or say I don't feel comfortable answering. But most people believe the way they do for very good and clear reasons. Just because one person understands why they believe the way they do, doesn't mean that everyone can relate without some kind of clarification. If someone asks me why I believe something, the thought that I am being baited never enters my mind. What I see is an opportunity to explain why I feel why I do and am given an opportunity to provide examples. I am happy when someone cares enough about my topics of interest to ask why. It would be sad if no one was allowed to comment in fear of being banned...

If you don't feel comfortable discussing this here, I have posted a corresponding thread in Trollville-Baiting or Curiosity???. I welcome your comments there. If you would rather take this to email, I welcome that as well. I am not afraid to talk about any subject. What I fear is finding that I may end up being afraid to talk about any topic because the rules in SE have gotten so vague and strict that anyone can be banned for any reason with absolutely no explanation ever being provided...
