I open my sleep filled eyes
to see that dawn has broken.
And the birds have announced
With a song for me to awaken

Time for the show to begin .
So I fix me a cup of coffee
And have it out on the porch.
And now they'll entertain me.

They are athletes so nimble
Their strong muscles bulging
Gliding high in the trees above
These arial acrobats soaring.

I could watch them all day
But alas they become bored
Moving on to something else.
But with me they've scored.

I'll refill the squirrel feeder
They've certainly earned it.
And hope they'll come back
Again to amuse me a bit.
