I burned one disc and everything went fine. Burned another disc and FAIL. The machine was humming or vibrating. So I unplugged it and trying another. I don't know if it's the machine or is it's because I bought a bad stack of dvds. Bad dvds would explain why my computer b was getting so many failed burns al the sudden. I'll post in here when I learn more, disc 3 is in there now...

Memorex usually burn OK for me.  I too got a bad stack of Dynex brand one time.  I would never buy Dynex again.

Thats what it was, I am almost done with a whole stack of good burns using a different brand. I used to have a lot of trouble with verbatin, and I think that had a lot to do with my pc problems on that computer, that is permanently damaged.

I bought those memorex - at staples. It seems to me it could be a clever trick on the part of memorex, hide a bunch of bad discs under about 30 good ones, then they don't have a full stack to return to the store for money back. They were on sale but I'm still out $20 for 3/4 of a stack of bad ones. Oh well, I already mentioned it on my blog so it could come back to cost them a sale or two someday.

Or it could be the 100 stacks are bad for the bottom discs, but I doubt it, you'd think they know if it was and not do it if it was bad for discs.

The only bad verbatims I've ever had were those I bought from ebay, that had fell off the shelf. No problem with a crack in the plastic box/spindle, but only 1-2/3 of the discs actually worked... Other than that Vebatim have always been a success in terms of quality! IMO they're the best discs out there for DVD.

I did a google on bad discs and I saw one person had a whole stack of verbatin that was bad. I have about 400 verbatin discs that are reject, about 50% fail rate. I use 100 stacks, maybe that is why, verbatin has those special texture for print that may not handle being in big stacks. Other than that the only problems I have had was with staples brand. I have been using memorex for decades and will continue to use them.

Staples took the discs back in exchange for 100 more of the same brand. The guy said he had a bad stack once too. I think it can happen to any brand, there is more to it than we know. Like age, or just a run of bad ones mixed in with millions.
