This is now the 2nd time it's happened, the first time about 2 weeks ago. All of a sudden with no warning the screen went black. The blue light on the monitor remained on, the PC stayed on. I pressed the Windows Key+U+R+Enter and the PC restarted, Windows loaded, the desktop appeared and all is fine. But I have a feeling this is going to happen again.
Anyone have a clue as to what is going on?

When it happens again, try unplugging the power from the monitor, then plug it back in...

I can get it to start working again, I would like to know why it's doing what it's doing. I have a feeling it's going to get worse as time goes by. After the first back out I disconnected and reconnected cables and plugs for the monitor. I didn't remove and reseat the video card I just pressed on it.
Each time it blacked out I had music playing at YouTube site, I don't know if that's coincidence or a clue. I've played music and videos a lot of time since the first blackout.
I have the newest players. Maybe need updated video drivers? The last time I tried updating the drivers I had to use Restore Point, I'm a bit gunshy in that area. LOL

Shall I go for the 9745? It's from Window's update?

RB that is very strange because a few weeks ago the exact same thing happened to me then about a week later if happened again! Not sure where I was when it happened might of been here or facebook. I also checked all my wires - rebooting brought it back on. |

Hummm .... strange indeed. Post back if/when it happens again and I will do the same. Odd that it happened to both of us the same way about the same time. I wonder how many others it may have been happening to? Some gremlin embedded in web sites? So many strange things happening on web sites these days.
There would be more to work on if the PC crashed or the backout was happening on a regular bases like daily or hourly but that's not the case. My monitor appears to be working perfectly, the color and performance is great. It's a 22" ViewSonic.
I'm assuming your PC stayed on and working also, Chrissy? I know mine did because the music or audio keep playing, fans whirring, lights on, the On light remained on the monitor. And the monitor didn't just darken it went cold black like in OFF!
