This is probably in the wrong place, so sorry if it is, but I thought here was a good place to ask this question. Mods, by all means move it if you wish.
I'm trying to get a shopping cart system modified to run from different subdomains, and the software people are telling me to do this,
".htaccess should be modifified to have line
DirectoryIndex home.php "
Then they go on to say, that the subdomain cannot have any subdirectories in it.
Whats the effects of using this ? Both on the primary domain and any subdomains ? Especially since my primary domain is a working site now, and I have a subdomain already that will be nothing to do with this.
The idea is to get subdomains to run the same shoppingcart, using different logos and titles, and retaining the url of the subdomain. The idea being that the cart will appeal to different groups of people via different domain names.
But what they are suggesting just doesnt feel right to me.
Any comments anyone can make ? |

bit late like, but isnt it just a matter of putting a .htaccess file in each subdomain. works that way for me anyway |
