No easymod ?
Without easymod, it cannot be modded. I'm not doing it any other way, as I'm so likely to stuff it up. Blind man in a china shop carrying a sledge hammer in the pitch dark !
The essential mod as far as I'm concerned is asking the addition question on registration. Unless v3 is much much better at keeping robots out than 2 was.
I also find list posts by time period essential. Does v3 do that ?
I've just noticed that fantasico has already changed to a default v3 install. And I was about to do new installs of v2
Honestly, I was happy with 2 the way I have it modified. No real reason to go up to 3. But I wanted to shift a forum to a new domain, but now it means going up to v3 at the same time
Whats the concensus of opinion ?
Go 3 or stay 2 ? |

Research your answer from that list.
I'm off to check it out now. |

Been there, let me know what you think.
Sounds impressive in a list, but if the registration letter thing is as useless as ever, then its not worth the bells and whistles. |

Since version 3 on my site has been active there has not been a bot sign up yet. There is a security option that lets you set a time limit that forms can be submitted. Bots fill in forms in a matter of a second or less. You can set it for whatever time you want. I have mine set at 5 seconds minimum that a human has to wait before submitting a form. If its a bot filling in the form then they will get a message or the page won't change.
Humans will take longer than 5 seconds to read a page or fill out a form so therefore won't have nay problems.
Hope you get what I'm talking about.
circleofatlantis - you can download the latest phpbb2 from http://www.phpbb.com/downloads/ if you know how to set up a database through cpanel |

Thanks for that. Nice to know bots are not a problem.
I guess thats another option.
Oh well, I might just install a v3 for the hell of it and see what its like. May as well try it out and see if it will do. |

Wow I had no idea it came with all that!
I might be tempted if I can find a nice template or work out if I can do my own.

I saw the list and I was impressed with some additions but am not finding it a NECESSITY to make the change right now nor in the future. Since EM, I have not wanted to hand code anything ever again with the tendinitis I have in both wrists. NightRider has been so wonderful in all his help as Lady Rose has been too.
I actually hand coded the new changes to update from 2.022 to 2.0.23 and am still mad about that. AHAHAHAHA!! No I'm not. I learned (as I BOP NR)
So for anyone going for it, have fun!! I am usually the LAST one to get DVR, DVD, big screen and all new modern technolgy, ok. I am so the last one to change when it comes to net related stuff. |

Wow, look at all the templates! Yule sure is pretty. They misspelled Saint Valentine.
