I got the idea of this picture while visiting my daughter in Madison. I took a few photos, and I captured this tree as we drove past.

I got the idea of this picture while visiting my daughter in Madison. I took a few photos, and I captured this tree as we drove past.

How I made it, in case anyone wonders:
I click my selection magic wand on the tree truck, then selected inverse, then made into a brush, then click the paint brush with the tree trunk on to a canvass;

Phase two, I drew a branch that looked simular to tree. I made this a bush, as above; I clicked the bbrush onto blank canvas, then turned the canvas a little, then clicked another barnch on, etc. etc. until I had a decent size main branch.

Next I went to the tree trunk and started clicking on branches, rotating image and adding more until tree is finished.

Next phase I turn the entire tree into a brush and click once to add the tree to any picture. I can resize the brush and make a forrest.

Next I turn the forrest into a brush, and you will see this forrest in a few pictures of mine until I make a new one.

Did you use the brushes of the tree parts to also make the smaller bushes in this image?

You said you rotate the image as you make the tree branches with your brush. Can you rotate the brush instead? If so, then why do you rotate the image -- does it make a better picture that way?

I can't rotate the brush, but I could make several at different angles.

There are ways to do things if one can figure it out and remember; here is how I can rotate, if I remember the tricks I learn: I could start a new layer, add a branch, drag a selection box around branch, then rotate and move all around without affecting the first layer. (That layer trick works great for many things)

There are other ways also, that is what makes it hard to remember it all. For instance I could enlarge the canvas and rotate the image without affecting the borders.

I did tell it wrong in my directions on first post, I clicked on the trunk, but didn't reverse that selection. I made a brush out of the trunk, then stamped it on a blank canvas, then I drew my own trunk right beside it and used the other as a guide.

I use my selection brush a lot also. I can draw a selection, like the branches, and if I error a few times, I don't have to undo each time, I just reverse the section when I finish and draw it back in place, then reverse back to where I was.

Having these brushes  makes it possible to make a complete picture in an hour sometimes, where it used to take all day.

Layers are great! So easy to rotate a layer, without messing up the rest of the image.

Not sure I followed how you reverse a selection if you make an error, but that's probably something in Elements 2 that's not in PSP. Thanks for explaining the brushes and all.

On my tool bar I have a selection tab, and menu; in here is "Invert Selection", a most handy tool. This is how I make brushes, like with a tree I can't select the whole tree well with all the twigs, so I just click my wselection wand in any open area on the outside, then invert the selection. I love the magic wand, and use it most of the time, but the selection brush I use also. I can even use my made brushs for selection also. This is where the reversing makes it easy to be precise.
