My grandparents came here
Along way over the sea
To start a new life in America
And plant a new family tree.
They worked hard for this new life
Their allegiance was for the USA
They loved everything about it
And thanked God every day.
And when they passed away
They didn't leave much money
Just a few cherished momentos
And memories so very sunny.
The thing that really mattered
Was the gift they left behind
The birthright of citizenship
And love of country defined. |

Katy, that's just plain beautiful. For someone who's great grandparents come to America from overseas I can really appreciate it!

Unless we are Native Indian, most of us forget that we are all products of immigration. Our ancestors were ALL immigrants. This country wouldn't be what it is today without the blood, sweat, tears, and back breaking labor provided by immigrants and we shouldn't ever forget it...
