There are some things I havn't figured out yet in using the post box.

I see people type things that have a link to click that will say click here for content and when you click the content shows.     How?

I sometimes would like to type a description instead of the link.
Example I would like to say ' Baby Spinach recall '  instead of  http://care-away.com/forums/kitchen/viewtopic.php?t=66

I should know this and am embarrassed to ask but till I do I'll remain a dummy so I'm asking.

using the button at the top of the reply window, (there are many here) the one you need is in the top row last one on the right URL  click on that and you will see the code to do what you want.
here it the code but without  the spaces - I had to add the spaces so you can see the code.

[  url=http:// url ] URL text [ /url ]

where it says http://url is where you would paste the link then where it says URL test is where you would put click here or what ever you want. Smile

On my forums I added a mod which makes it even easer to do this - hint to Blake Smile

My Website

O.K.  I see what I was doing.  I missed the bracket after the http-my-.com]

Hummm this could be hard to esplane to some of the elders that would frequent my site.

Before I started using phpbb's I was using a free site (Excoboards).    At first I thought the script they used to do this was a pain in the buns but now I see where it was easier for people that are not in any way computer savy.
when you clicked URL it brought up a box that said type url address here (you could copy paste into it) then when you clicked ok it brought up another box that said type link discription here.  I can see where some could handle that better.

I'm thinking how do I esplain this.

r2b2 when you click the URL  action you get the first part after you type things you have to click URL again to get the end tag.

The Insert URL:           http://url                or     URL text                  (alt+w)   looks confusing to someone that knows kinda what they are doing. I see what you are saying though.

OH and still I want to know how some type a question then put a link that would say click for answer and when it is clicked it is still within the post people just don't see the answer till they click the click for answer link.

KeeKee if you highlight the text and then press the URL button the tags will be placed on either end.

As for hiding an answer.  Whether it's text or an image, once you have it in the window highlight it than press the Hide button at the top, 3rd row down, second button.

I gotcha highlight first.  Peabrain is getting it.

O.K. as to the second question I think I  see what you mean highlight what you want hidden then click the Hide button. Right?

So this isn't something that is on all phpbb's it something that Night rider has set up for that feature.

Yo Nightrider when you have the time..... Please......

This is a great feature to use on TV forums where some want to discuss who got voted off but others don't want to know till they watch the show.
