Is there a way to access the degree symbol without going through start/programs/accessories/system tools/character map? I would like to have it more readily available. |

Nightrider answered this somewhere, I remember seeing it but can't say off hand where it was.
Anyway this was his suggestion.
Go through the rigmarole you talked about until you get to Character Map. Right click on Character Map and you will get a menu, place your cursor on Send To, that will produce another menu (show upper left with hourglass), click Desktop (create shortcut) and an icon will be placed on your desktop.

The first SS shows what the icon will look like on the desk top
The second SS shows how I drug the icon to the quick launch bar (the large I shows that it has been placed there) let go of the mouse button.
The third SS shows the icon, in this case it's hidden behind the tiny >>. And there is the Character map. You can launch it from there.
And HEY, my sig is working again!!! Yahooooo

Hey Rosalie, I'm so happy that your signature is back. I missed it and I'm sure that you did also. You look so much better with it. It highlights you wonderful features. You just look a lot better with it. The old saying (Uh Oh here comes another of my "Old Sayings") that "less Is More" doesn't always apply correctly. I have been slightly depressed because my emoticons would not go where I wanted them to but with my 3 new methods of obtaining and applying Character Symbols I have forgotten all about those silly emoticons. Who needs them! Don need no stinking emoticons. Guest |

Bobby, I noticed that you used the [you] BBCode tag in your post and realized that you may not understand what it is doing. The [you] tag displays the name of the person reading the post. So if you are reading it, your name will appear. If anyone else is reading your message, their name will appear. So if you are using it to add your name to the end of your messages, it only displays that way for you and is a bit confusing when anyone else reads it...
The following link in the Announcements forum may or may not help you understand the [you] tag a bit better. I hope my brief explanation and the discussion that followed helps though...
Added You BBCode...
