If you are getting tired of the same old look and feel of RCF, I have now upgraded the following Styles to include nearly all of the same functionality that you are used to seeing and using in the default template, subSilver. You can change the display by going into your Profile and choosing from the list. There are quite a few styles that I haven't updated yet, but I will continue working on them until all the styles in the list are up to speck...
Here are the styles that are upgraded and ready to go:- genRock
- genBabylone
- genElectro
- Aeolus - New 1/18/05
- Helius - New 1/23/05
- Hestia - New 1/20/05
- noteBored - New 1/26/05
- wowAlliance - New 1/22/05
- wowHorde - New 1/22/05
- subBlack
- subSilver aka paperwood
- default_php - This looks like the default php subSilver style, not paperWood like we were using for the default in RCF...
Let me know if you notice any missing icons or run into any problems with these updated styles...

I finished Aeolus today, so it is another style that is available and fully upgraded. As with all the other styles, let me know if you are using this style and find any problems with it...

So far I've looked at several of the skins, and always gone back to the wood look. Seems like in all the other skins, the link words almost disappear when I run my cursor over them. I may stay with Aeolus for a while now, because it's easier for me to read and the links stay a readable color as I mouse over them.
I like the warm wood colors; Aeolus is a cool, soothing light blue, a good color for the soon-to-come summer in central Texas. |

That's interesting. Is Aeolus appearing as light blue on your monitor bigR? It should be a minty green color. Aeolus is a pleasant and soothing style though. I used it all day yesterday and quickly got used to it...
I also noticed the problems with the link colors in genRock, genElectro, and genBabylone. I can go into the config files and change the color for the links. I will do that when I get a chance. Other than white, I don't know what other color I could use that would show up easily. Any ideas???

The colors of Aeolus appear in shades of blue for me also. Grayish Blue. Definitely not any shade of green.

Yep, Aelolus looks blue, various shades of blue and blue-gray here. Should I fire up the iBook and see if it shows green? Or maybe it's Mozilla, and another browser would show green...
NR, if you can change the hover colors of link text, and WANT to, then I'd suggest using grays or creams. I think white would have too much contrast, be too stark, against the black of many of the styles. The ones that have a dark hover color could maybe be lightened -- dark blue to a light blue-gray, for example. Just don't take the red to a pink, use orange or gray or something. Pink is about my least favorite color. Well, as long as I'm giving you my druthers. <G>
I hope this doesn't make a duplicate post. I did something wrong, and my first try at this reply disappeared into the ether. |

I checked the color out in Opera and there may be a very slight variation of color but it still looks blue to me. It's possible some people might call it green. But I would say they are wrong! LOL
In the eye of the beholder I guess.

At first I chalked it up to variations between monitors. I opened RCF with the genElectro style on a friend's PC this weekend and the blue was very different from what I see on my monitor. It was a lot darker. I like the color I see a lot better...
But your monitor is the same as mine rb, so I wouldn't think there would be any difference in colors between the two. When I look at Aeolus, there are various shades of green. The green is closer to the blue spectrum than red or yellow, but it most certainly is green on my monitor. I went to the thread for the style and they describe it as a SlateGray hi-tech template. Other than that description, they don't mention green or blue...
Aeolus

Blue-grey, iron blue... Something around that in Opera... Hard to define actually... |

Slate gray discribes it pretty well. Still in the blue area of color rather than the green area. Blake, could your choosen background color have an effect on the color of this style? Depends I guess if you have it set to overide the color of the site.
Yes, we have the same monitors but still the colors could be slightly different. I think the colors can be adjusted can't they by using the buttons on the bottom of the monitor? I never messed with the color setting, I'm sure I would just end up with a big mess. Also I think the graphic card may have some effect on the color? |
