its the sql files that are messed up from a mod I tried to install. Not sure if that will make a difference with the two boards. |

No, nothing extra added by another MOD to your Test board should matter. Now if the database is hosed, then that is a different matter. At that point, you would need to start over and recreate and populate the database again...
I'm working on the Test board now. Part of the Update are unnecessary on RCF and I imagine that they are unnecessary for you too. I installed a MOD removed the hardcoded tables in the database backup so that all the tables will be backed up. I think I have installed or helped to install the same MOD on some of your boards too...

I am not sure what is going on with my test board, I had installed a type of portal to it that messed it up. Not any from the phpBB forums this was from a friend, and now when I go to login to the test board I get this message:
Quote:
|
The server's name "jaddon.com" does not match the certificate's name "*.secure.powweb.com". Somebody may be trying to eavesdrop on you.
|
I then have a choice to accept or cancel. If I cancel I cant log in if I accept it logs me in but I get a yellow warning in the address bar from opera. Other then that the test board seems to be working fine.
I did replace all the files with the backups to remove the mod I added but the mod I added did change alot of sql codes. |

I lost my backups Had computer problems tonight I knew it was on its way to crash, but when I saved my files I zipped up my forum backups but forgot to transfer them to the cd - I went to get them and they are not there
NR I lost everything - even all my mod backups from em as well as the list of mods I added. |

As long as your board is running, then you can create new backups. That's not a huge deal, but you are extremely vulnerable until those backups are made. It would be a real loss if your board was hacked and destroyed right now, especially if your host doesn't make good backups too...
EM creates a history of all MODs you've installed and if you aren't currently experiencing problems with anything that you have installed, then you may not have ever needed the MODs backups folders anyway. Those are all safeguards just in case the worst were ever to occur...
Jaddon, it sounds like you are having your share of PC problems right now. I am too. I may be forced to restore my images again real soon at the rate things are going. We must both be dealing with the same Gremlin...
We needed new backups of your site anyway for your Test board to be a true mirror image of what you have now on your live site, so the loss of your backups aren't a big loss. We probably wouldn't have used them anyway...

thats the first thing I did was make new backups when I realized I miss placed all my backups. So I do have a a new back up.
The backups I am worried about it the ones I did for the update. I had gone threw many of the changes that the 18 update did and edited it to get the login problem solved. I had saved all the files before I edited them as a backup. I did not remove all of the 18 update only a few that I thought might be causing the login problem. I was hoping to restore those backups of the 18 update before updating to the new 19 update. Now I am going to have to add 18 all back by hand. so I can update to 19. But I am going to wait it out. lol |

I installed the 2.0.19 Update on the Test board with only a few modifications. I think I'm ready to try it on the live board now too...
Jaddon, I wouldn't worry too much about your database backups. Even though 2.0.18 added some fields and tables, it won't affect you unless your code calls them. If you have removed the code, then the extra junk will sit idle...

Yes, I should be around on Wednesday to help you Jaddon. We can try to figure out what's going on with the login problem too...
