I want to create a front screen which looks NOTHING like my board, but has some of the information from it. How do i go about this? |

You could create a blank page using html and use mods such as topics anywhere and fetch all. I think there are others. |

As far as Web design, I'm probably not the best person to ask. We have some very good talent here at RCF though, so perhaps some of the real pros can help out with this project...
I can help you with the technical parts of it though...

I am trained in graphic pre-press, so i can easily do the design, but how to implement the things IN it is what i need help with. For example, I want to put information about birthdays (on my index page) on the new page i am creating, how do i find out where i get this information from? |

Ok, I would be happy to help you with the technical side of it. Do you want to retrieve data from the database to display on the Main page or do you want to hardcode some information???

Hardcoded script is not flexible or dynamic. Every time you want to update it, you have to go back and modify the code. If you store your data in the database, then all you have to do is change the values in the tables to change what is displayed. If done correctly, then the database method is the best but it takes more initial work to set it up. The hardcoded method is probably easier if the data will never change...

You would want to run queries to obtain the information, then assign the results to variables that can be used to display it on the page. I could help you to write the queries...
