There something weird happening. I see the .txt extension when the file is on the server, but when it is over on my disk, the .txt extension is gone.
I am using AceFTP. |

You probably have the setting in Explore to hide file extensions. I don't know what version of the OS you have, but the method for changing the setting should be the same on most Windows versions. In W2K, I open Tools/Folder Options to get to the settings:
Then in the Folder Options dialog window, I go to the View tab and uncheck the "Hide file extensions for known file types" option:
Then press the Apply button followed by the Like Current Folder button so that it will be the same in every Explore window that you open. You should be able to see and remove the .txt extensions when you are done. You might have to press the F5 key to refresh the page too...

I really like both of your portal pages!
TheAussieAviator and RCF They look great!
I want it is this where I download ezPortal the mod I need to get this page?
Do I have to have the page end with /portal.php or can I name it whatever I want?
Thanks |

Jaddon, did you solve your problem with the member's Profile page? About your name appearing in the space where their name should be? I think it was happening only with Firefox? With me it's Netscape and I'm not even sure I tested it with any other browser.
At any rate removing your user name and password for your forum from the Password Manager in Firefox preferences should do it. It works for me.

I don't remember where the RCF Portal came from. I installed it so long ago and I can't even find the install for it. I don't think it was Smartor's ezPortal program though...
Glenn's current site is not using ezPortal but a template that looks like a Portal. I think that is a better way to handle the portals than the way that is is being handled in either ezPortal or the RCF Portal that you see. Glenn's current template portal is easier to modify with new MODs than what I have...

You can rename the portal.php file, but you will probably have to make some changes in the code as well. It was coded to be looking for portal.php so you would need to find and change all references from portal to your new name...

Yep it I solved it, I dumped firefox and using the browser that NR uses and no problems I was having other problems with firefox and was looking for a new one anyway. So far I really like the one that NR told me about |

Ezportal is what I am currently trying to uninstall. It's available here http://smartor.is-root.com/viewtopic.php?t=1860
I am uninstalling it and staying with teh template I have which is called the subportal template. download from http://www.phpbbhacks.com/download/1783
It's very easy to install and modify. The boxes on the left can be edited throught overhallheader.php. Must be easy, I was able to modify it I will be either moving my forum to my main directory or redirecting users to it and will add more links. Still looking at the mod call add blank pages to your forum or something like that.
Anyway I better get this ezportal uninstalled. Lets hope this time I can figure it out. |

Ohh Jaddon, don't download the one that you had in your link from phpbbhacks.com as it is an old version. I posted the link to the current one. But consider the subportal template as I think it would be easier to modify. |
