This MOD is called the Tell a Friend MOD which came from phpBBHacks.com. Even though it was a fairly small MOD, the install file was a mess, like many of phpBBHacks.com MODs. I just spent some time cleaning it up for you and anyone else who wants it. I uploaded the tellfriend.zip file to the downloads/phpBB/MODs/Add_Ons/Topic_Calendar category in our Download section...

This MOD came from the same author who created ezDownloads, HerrBawl. EzLinks can be downloaded from his site: Downloads...
Unfortunately, his main site has been hacked apparently, so I don't know if the link will be good for long or not. If you can't download the link from his site, I can upload the MOD file that I used...

That would be the Easy Contact Form MOD which also came from phpBBHacks.com. The MOD author failed to include code to modify the menu in the overall_header.tpl file, so that would have to be added before a link would be available to anyone. Since you are using a Portal, you probably would have had problems with that part of the code anyway during the install. Since I am using QBar, I didn't need the code either...
You can also download the Easy_Contact_Form.zip file from the downloads/phpBB/MODs/Add_Ons category in our Downloads page...

I upgraded M2F and really hosed things up. I couldn't figure out an easy way to get everything back to normal without completely uninstalling the MOD, which had been upgraded twice. So there was no easy way for me to uninstall M2F. By the time I got the board working again, I was too tired to try to reinstall M2F, so it has been sitting on my plate for a while now...
M2F is probably one of my favorite MODs even though most RCF members never used it. I am looking forward to the day when I can get it reinstalled...

I'm installing tell a friend and I get this error
Quote:
|
Warning
FIND FAILED: In file [templates/subPortal/overall_header.tpl] could not find:
L_LOGIN_LOGOUT}
MOD script line #61 :: FAQ :: Report
|
I think that if I open overall_header.tpl and manually add the bit from the .txt mod file that will fix it. Yes, no? |

Actually forget that because -
Code:
|
#<a href="{U_LOGIN_LOGOUT}" class="mainmenu"><img src="templates/subSilver/images/icon_mini_login.gif" width="12" height="13" border="0" alt="{L_LOGIN_LOGOUT}" hspace="3" />{L_LOGIN_LOGOUT}</a>
L_LOGIN_LOGOUT}</a>
|
isn't in my overall_header file |

Since you don't have a standard menu in your subPortal template, then every MOD that wants to modify the overall_header.tpl file is probably going to need some adjustment to get it to work. Chances are, you will have to add this part of the code manually every time it appears. The code from a standard template menu header and the subPortal template are just to different to make it work a lot of times...
The search should be looking for {U_LOGIN_LOGOUT} since that would be common in just about every template and it should only appear once in the file...
FYI: Any line beginning with a pound sign # is a comment and not used in any of the MOD processes, except for the command lines...

So if I just add the following code to the overall_header file then it will work? Where abouts in the overall_header do I place the code?
Code:
|
#<a href="{U_LOGIN_LOGOUT}" class="mainmenu"><img src="templates/subSilver/images/icon_mini_login.gif" width="12" height="13" border="0" alt="{L_LOGIN_LOGOUT}" hspace="3" />{L_LOGIN_LOGOUT}</a>
L_LOGIN_LOGOUT}</a><br><a href="tellfriend.php" class="mainmenu"><img src="templates/subSilver/images/icon_mini_smilies.gif" width="13" height="13" border="0" />Recommend Us</a>
|
This is what the .txt file says to do
Code:
|
#
#-----[ OPEN ]------------------------------------------
#
templates/subSilver/overall_header.tpl
#
#-----[ FIND ]------------------------------------------
#
#<a href="{U_LOGIN_LOGOUT}" class="mainmenu"><img src="templates/subSilver/images/icon_mini_login.gif" width="12" height="13" border="0" alt="{L_LOGIN_LOGOUT}" hspace="3" />{L_LOGIN_LOGOUT}</a>
L_LOGIN_LOGOUT}</a>
#
#-----[ IN-LINE FIND ]------------------------------------------
#
L_LOGIN_LOGOUT}</a>
#
#-----[ IN-LINE AFTER, ADD ]------------------------------------------
#
<br><a href="tellfriend.php" class="mainmenu"><img src="templates/subSilver/images/icon_mini_smilies.gif" width="13" height="13" border="0" />Recommend Us</a>

Part of the problem seems to be that you can't see the comment in the FIND statement, so I am removing it so that you can see what you really need to search for:
Code:
|
#
#-----[ OPEN ]------------------------------------------
#
templates/subSilver/overall_header.tpl
#
#-----[ FIND ]------------------------------------------
#
{L_LOGIN_LOGOUT}
#
#-----[ IN-LINE FIND ]------------------------------------------
#
</a>
#
#-----[ IN-LINE AFTER, ADD ]------------------------------------------
#
<br><a href="tellfriend.php" class="mainmenu"><img src="templates/subSilver/images/icon_mini_smilies.gif" width="13" height="13" border="0" />Recommend Us</a>
#
#-----[ SAVE/CLOSE ALL FILES ]--------------------------
#
#EoM
|
If you add this code to your overall_header, you will have a problem:
Code:
|
#<a href="{U_LOGIN_LOGOUT}" class="mainmenu"><img src="templates/subSilver/images/icon_mini_login.gif" width="12" height="13" border="0" alt="{L_LOGIN_LOGOUT}" hspace="3" />{L_LOGIN_LOGOUT}</a>
L_LOGIN_LOGOUT}</a><br><a href="tellfriend.php" class="mainmenu"><img src="templates/subSilver/images/icon_mini_smilies.gif" width="13" height="13" border="0" />Recommend Us</a>
|
Notice the first character is a MOD comment, i.e. #. So that whole line doesn't even belong there all the way to the end of the . Then the next line is missing the { next to the L_LOGIN_LOGOUT}. If you search in your overall header file, you should be able to find {L_LOGIN_LOGOUT}. The Tell a Friend code would go after the end of they hyperlink, which ends with a <a>. The <br> tag creates a new line, which is probably what you would want on your subPortal menu...
I just looked at the code and this is what I find when I search for {L_LOGIN_LOGOUT}...
Code:
|
<a href="{U_LOGIN_LOGOUT}" class="mainmenu"><img src="templates/subPortal/images/icon_mini_login.gif" width="12" height="13" border="0" alt="{L_LOGIN_LOGOUT}" hspace="3" />Login/Out</a><br /></span>
|
So I would place the new code just before the end span tag i.e.
Code:
|
<a href="{U_LOGIN_LOGOUT}" class="mainmenu"><img src="templates/subPortal/images/icon_mini_login.gif" width="12" height="13" border="0" alt="{L_LOGIN_LOGOUT}" hspace="3" />Login/Out</a><br />
<a href="tellfriend.php" class="mainmenu"><img src="templates/subSilver/images/icon_mini_smilies.gif" width="13" height="13" border="0" />Recommend Us</a></span>

ok done but it took me a while to get my brain working. Now I need to change the link from your site to mine. Also there are two links to the recommend page and a missing graphic but I'll try and work it out. |
