I need to get a new VGA fan, the one I have roars like a lion everytime I boot up until it warms up. It's driving me nuts!
Are they hard to replace?

Nope... Very easy...
- disconnect from Power
- make sure you are grounded
- screw the PC apart
- unplug the Fan unit
- remove the Fan unit (screws again)
- replace with new Fan (same build)
However... the roaring is usually due to the Fan being all dusted up.
So, since you'd dismantle the thing (to put in a new Fan) anyway, you
could also first try to clean the Fan from all the dirt (Vacuum cleaner,
small brush, blow dryer etc)

I'm surprised that this question came from you, rb. You know how to buy and install a VGA fan...

Well, Nightrider, I have never changed one. What I remember seeing last time didn't look like screws holding it to the mobo but surely there is way to change it out. Actually it had been making the noise for quite some time. I did clean it very good and it didn't help. At one point it quit making the noise for several months and recently started again. It will quit after about 10 minutes or so but until then it sounds horrendous.
I whisked out all the dust I could see with a small brush but I may try again, I may have missed some. I've heard a recommendation of putting a drop of oil on it but I hesitate doing that and getting the oil flung all over the inside of the case.

LOL, we Americans say grounded also, Swiss. Yes, thank you, I do know about being grounded. I'm going to open the case tommorrow and give that fan a real good cleaning again and see if that helps.

Oh, you mobo fan is making all the noise? Or is it the fan on your processor that's doing it? I thought you were talking about the case fans...

NO, the fan on the mobo. I don't know if it's a vibration problem or not ..... if I press hard in a certain place on the side of the case the noise almost ceases all together, I remove my hand and it starts up again. But whether I do anything or not it will quit after a while. Sounds like a vibration.
