Couple things. I have an old lap top that keeps shutting down when I go to play a game. Can't be a virus because I only reloaded all the software not long ago. Anyone know why it is doing this. Its running XP.
Using IE as my browser the menu names at the top have turned invisible and also when I open up my favourites all the names are grey and you know that little hand that points, there is a circle with a line diagonally through it. Don't know why it is doing it and can't think of a way to fix it. Anyone? |

Gee, Glenn, it could be so many things, that's kind of vague. However, off the bat I would say lack of resorces. How much memory do you have. For XP and games you should have at least 512 MB. I think low resources could explane the shut down but than overheating would do that too.
Do you have a browser other than IE? Download and install Firefox and see if it behaves the same way. IE may need repairing.

I don't care about the shutting down now. If it does it again its out on the road with it.
I didn't like firefox. How do you repair IE? |

dunno. If its anything like my head, not much at all.
How do I check? I'm installing an update to see if that helps too. I think the problem is that when the computer kept shutting down it rooted something.
Also, I cna get into every web site except for my message board. |

Updates may help.
Go to Control Panel, System and the first page should show how much memory you have, the last listing. Course I have W2K, might be a bit different in XP.
