I added the first CRON newsfeed for you, which you may want to adjust. If you copy and paste the command that I provided above, you will need to remove an extra space in news_insert added by our forum software. The command in your CRON job is correct...

ok, so everytime i add a new newsfeed i have to add a cron job is that right?

No, the CRON job will launch on the designated interval and it will pull any and all newsfeeds that you have set up. You only need to set up more CRON jobs if you want it to launch on an irregular interval. Right now, it is launching on the hour every hour 24/7/365...

i just thought id check on that! Its fine as it is at the moment but it depends on what other newsfeeds i add!

I've been watching this thread as I too want to set up newsfeeds on my board.
I also have been trying to get carp (rss) to work on the main website and in searching for feeds and what is required from different sites I found that a lot of the sites say due to bandwidth issues some sites get upset if a person pulls a feed more than once every 4 hours.

Don't know that that would affect you in any way but thought would toss that in as food for thought. dontknow

I found that pulling news every hour was too much. There was just too much to read in each newsfeed and much of it was duplicated over and over and over again. So by switching to pulling the feeds every 4 hours, that seemed to work a bit better for our needs. You may even decide to pull new feeds less often than that too. It's really up to what works best for you...

My host dont seem to be a problem with bandwidth, as far as i know, thanks for the tip though, il keep it in mind!!

I mite change it, i was thinking of it anyway, im just not gettin time on here at the moment because of the damn internet cutting us off a lot!

yea, we phoned them up yeseterday and they did some adjustments and said if it goes ff again call them straight away and of cause it did last nit elonge rthan normal we phoned them and there office is closed at 8pm and now its bank holiday, so how annoying lol!! Anyway iv been adding lots of newsfeeds and its great wish i had this mod sooner!
