Well, I just tried to process the upgrade arcade mod via ACP again but I’m still getting the same error as before.
|
By this I mean that it wasn't having using a duplicate of the database that was preventing me from installing the mod before... |

If you are installing this MOD for the first time, there is nothing to Update. So there is no reason to try to install the Update MOD...

I checked the EM History but can't roll back the arcade mod because it's doesn’t even have a record of it being installed. So I guess no mysql database changes were made or phpbb files were overwritten when I clicked on the arcade upgrade mod process.... because it couldn't install it properly so it aborted kind of thing yes...?
|
EM doesn't modify any phpBB file until you get to Step 3. If you stopped when you saw the Critical and Warning errors, you were at Step 1, so nothing was modified...

Ok ^ cheers.
well I’m not sure what I’m meant to be doing with this mod then because this is the first time I’m installing the mod but if you so I don't need to install the upgrade mod then what am I meant to do.
The only other file is the read_me.txt file but it hasn't got anything to process or not that I can see anyway. I do see it says something about upgrading before doing as mentioned in the read_me.txt file. I've said it already and I’ll say it again that this mod is confusing lol...

Please follow the NORMAL upgrade.txt OR arcade_mod_2.1.8.mod BEFORE doing the below.
The install.txt HAS BEEN replaced with the arcade_mod_2.1.8.mod for FULL EasyMOD complience.
(thanks go to WWX for his patience in entering all the information)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
!....IF YOU FAIL TO DO THIS, YOU WILL CAUSE ISSUES TO YOUR ARCADE....!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
In this version of the phpBB Arcade MOD the ACP update routine has changed.
There is a NEW option under the ACP->Arcade menu
VERSION
When this is clicked, the mod will look at the http://www.phpbb-arcade.com site and will ask you to UPDATE to 2.x.x
OR it will ask you to INSTALL
Click on this and your database will be UPGRADED/INSTALLED to the current version.
Once you have upgraded to SHOULD REMOVE the file
/admin/admin_arcade_upgrade.php
Enjoy..

What is it that I’m supposed to do with this mod…?
Btw it's good to see that you set yourself as an Admin on the test board. Good stuff |

This MOD really is a PITA to install and not good for those who are just getting into the modding process. It can be a real PITA for the pros too, so I hate to think of what new admins go through with it...
Here are a couple of helpful links that tell how to resolve many of the problems associated with this MOD:
The Arcade MOD is now installed and working properly on your Test board. Check it out...
I changed the EM Password on your Test board to blank, meaning that you don't have to enter anything to get in. Just leave the password blank and press Access EM...

Ok I understand.... thanks for the links.
I see the arcade working now yeah excellent.... just wondering where I get more games from to add now
as to EM I’ll leave it as blank no problem as it is easier this way... just thought it was best to have a password in place for security reasons.... obviously not though otherwise you wouldn't have said to leave it blank
I like how admin settings collapse in the admin panel! How did you do this?
I suppose now that the test board works properly I can import the test sql file into the live board and just copy the test board files overwriting the live board files now. Obviously I need to rename cookie_path and script_path back to the previous settings after. also this time I make sure I upload a the live board config file back onto the host after the test board phpbb files have been transferred over... am I right in doing this
It’s not over yet I’m thinking of installing the mixed_mod_rewriteV0-2-2 later/tomorrow hehe |

As to the admin settings collapse menu I’ve just seen it in the mod history "DHTML Slide Menu for ACP" quality! Cheers Nightrider |

You can download and install hundreds of games from the same site:

If someone can get into your ACP without permission, then the EM password really isn't going to get in their way. They can do far more damage in the other non-password protected ACP utilities. The only reason you might want to have an EM password is if you have moderators who have access to your ACP but you don't want them to have access to EM...

You could do it that way or you could simply install the Arcade into the Live board now that you have a better idea of how to install it...

As you add more and more MODs that add new features to your ACP, you will quickly see how the DHTML Menu for ACP will come in handy. That's one of my favorite MODs...

I see phpbb.arcade.com is back up then. Cheers I’ll have a gander. I see what you mean about the EM stuff. It's ok to just leave it as it is then.
I'm not going risk messing up the live board, instead I’ll just do as I mentioned, believe it or not but I could do that much quicker than following those 10 Easy steps if they are easy steps I had to see the hard steps HAHA!
Thanks again dude. Consider this thread solved. |
