Well, I have easily gotten past the 100 mark and I still have quite a few on row without feeling like any single one of those installed is useless. My board is becoming more and more just like I like to have it. It´s like a perfect child, being just like I want it to. sunny

By the way Cowboy69, my board´s original style was just a plain old subSilver.

Yes, I think I remember the mod-junky concern. It's not surprising that you have added so many MODs now that you have a basic understanding of how it's all done. And the more functionality that you add, the easier it gets adding more. Practice makes perfect... Applause

You have some catching up to do though. I've installed over 800 MODs here...

It might well be that I´ve past the 200 mark allready, to tell you the truth I lost track a bit. But for some time now I make sure to keep track of even the slightest code change I make.

I doubt I´ll ever reach your numbers though, but who knows, I keep running into new MODs that just add another small or big function to my board.

I would never be able to get back to a vanilla phpbb now that I discovered how much nicer life can be.

Well since I haven't had a need to install any new MODs lately, you do have a chance to catch up. We're more in a maintanence mode now rather than adding new functionality...

Olympus (phpBB 3) may be released in the upcoming year, but I don't imagine that we will be able to upgrade since we would lose a lot of functionality to do so. It sounds like you might be in the same boat now too...

I don´t need a premodded board, I´m far to keen on my own version. And I guess that there will be a huge amount of people in this same boat.

As you say, there comes a point where one doesn´t need any more new MODs so I don´t fear the moment in which most MOD authors have stopped producing new MODs for phpbb2.x.x. With what we have available now we´re pretty comfortable allready, and I´m sure there will always remain good authors willing to make some nice new MODs anyway.

When I have some time I´m going to go through your complete list of MODs you have installed here. Today I´ve spent the whole day figuring out Simple Merge Topics MOD and it´s fixes. And managed to get it installed and working nicely.

Did you ever get round to installing your local server? grommit

Yes, the Simple Merge Topics MOD is nice. I have that installed here too. I installed a lot of MODs that beef up the admin functionality. Most members are never aware of what we have, but it sure makes life easier for rb and me...

No, I never did get around to installing a local server. But rb did. I think she actually has a fully functional forum running on her PC...

I found a MOD that will let you install a testboard in two clicks, as many as you want, on a local server, easymod included. Great for testing and fiddling, and so quick and easy.

No, I moved up to the 21st Century and am now on highspeed ADSL. I consistently connect at between 2.7-2.9 Mbps now, which was a huge improvement for me...

If you have the link handy, go ahead and provide it. You really want your Test board to be nearly identical to your Live board though or it really isn't going to be a valid Test board. You want the installs on your Test board to work the same for your Live board and if they are not nearly identical, the test on the Test board won't tell you whether the MOD will install the same on your Live board...
