May I add a question Please?
I would like to change the color of the board title and the description. can that be done without affecting anything else?
What I would really really like to do is put a banner in place of those. |

The board title and the description are set to use the maintitle class for their font colors. In the subSilver template, the class is defined in the overall_header.tpl and subSilver.css files, but only the class setting in the overall_header.tpl file is being used. This is the code:
| Code:
|
/* The largest text used in the index page title and toptic title etc. */
.maintitle {
font-weight: bold; font-size: 22px; font-family: "{T_FONTFACE2}",{T_FONTFACE1};
text-decoration: none; line-height : 120%; color : {T_BODY_TEXT};
}
|
So the font color is assigned the value {T_BODY_TEXT}, which is set to $theme['body_text'] in your page_header.php file, which corresponds to the Text Color setting in your Styles Admin Management utility in your ACP:
Ok, if that isn't confusing enough, I don't know what is. It would have been easier to use the setting from the subSilver.css file...
If you change the setting here in your Styles Admin Management utility, it is possible/likely that it will affect other font color settings too. So you can adjust this in your overall_header.tpl file by hardcoding the color to whatever you want to use:
| Code:
|
.maintitle {
font-weight: bold; font-size: 22px; font-family: "{T_FONTFACE2}",{T_FONTFACE1};
text-decoration: none; line-height : 120%; color : #CC0033;
}
|
Or you can create/add a new class that is guaranteed not to affect any other font settings:
| Code:
|
.maintitle2 {
font-weight: bold; font-size: 22px; font-family: "{T_FONTFACE2}",{T_FONTFACE1};
text-decoration: none; line-height : 120%; color : #CC0033;
}
|
Then you would adjust the class name in the span tag:
| Code:
|
|
<span class="maintitle2">
|
The Site Description is set to the gen class, so you could do the same type of thing for it. But if you want to remove the title and description altogether and replace them with a banner image, you would simply remove the following from your overall_header.tpl file and replace it with an <img src=""> HTML tag assigning the correct path to the new banner image file and not have to worry about modifying existing class settings or creating new classes:
| Code:
|
|
<span class="maintitle">{SITENAME}</span><br /><span class="gen">{SITE_DESCRIPTION}<br /> </span>
|

I actually was looking at that "gen" and going DUH!
It's like I kind of get what is being said but it's stumbling around in my head.
I'm getting PaintShop down and am making some images so a banner with the title name in the same font as the link to the main site and some cute little animals scattered about (pet board) would look nice....
BUT!
I'm being indexed by the majors and I think for SEO purposes I should leave things as they are which leaves me with the option to create a new class.
Now let me go read about that again. |

adding the class...
That first part goes into the .css under the other .maintitle,h1,h2 ?
and hte second goes somewhere in the overall header? |

For the subSilver template, it is pulling all the style information from the overall_header.tpl file. So add the new classes there instead of the subSilver.css file...
