Using EM I have been trying to update. I have got the newest update_to_latest.php and I have put it in here:
public_html / forum / admin / mods / updates / install but it hasn't seemed to update at all, what am I missing, apart from a few brain calls |

| Don't you think you need to make a separate folder in MODs and put the file there and install through EM? It's what I think... NightRider can exactly tell you how to... |

When you upgrade phpBB, it will move the install folder to the phpBB forum folder and your forum will go down until you run the update_to_latest.php file. So the best thing to do is have a browser window open with the correct path to the update file, so that after the MOD is installed, you can quickly run the database update and delete the install folder so that your board will be down for a minimum amount of time...
The path would look something like this on your forum after installing a phpBB Update:
| Code:

|
http://www.callum-blue.co.uk/forum/install/update_to_latest.php

Please ensure both the install/ and contrib/ directories are deleted
|

Not a problem now, I panicked when I saw that - thought I had done something wrong, but I managed to do it, it wouldn't let me delete the install folder, so I renamed it then deleted it from there
Thanks very much...again |

So did you go ahead and add the update code using EM too? The update_to_latest.php file only updates your database, not your phpBB code...

Oh! I thought that was it, so do I need to do something else then? |

If you have only ran the update_to_latest.php file, then all you did was update the database. But you have not updated the phpBB code. So even though the database says that you have updated, you really haven't yet. You need to run the phpBB Update code using EM too before the phpBB update is complete...

You should have been able to upload the phpBB update folder to the admin/mods folder and install it using EM. Do you have a copy of the phpBB Update MOD? If not, which phpBB version do you have now? I can make the phpBB Updates available to you. You can find what I have available at the following link:
