You're doing great, Bobby! Just wanted to add that you can tell IrfanView to put itself in your Send To menu. Here's the tab in the Properties section for it, and I've circled the checkbox:

When you resize an image in Irfanview, save it in a special folder for Image Shack uploads. That way you'll always know where to look for the image when you're ready to upload. I have a folder called "Ready" where I put files that are ready to upload, for web pages or whatever. Once I've uploaded the files, I either delete them or move them to where I store them (for websites, that's the mirrored site folders).

First, thanks BigR for the tip.  I now have Irfanview in my Sendto menu.  I created a new folder on my desktop and called it ImageShack Uploads.  I sent the desired picture to it and it shows that it is 9.37 MB.  In test I went to the post area and called it Blue & Deer.  I then browsed and went to the ImageShack Uploads folder and clicked on the small picture.  I then clicked on the ImageShack Upload box and waited for 5 minutes but it didn't go the the next page.  The hour glass beside the mouse pointer was pulsating, showing that it was doing something but still no new page.  What am I doing wrong?

As an example the picture I posted in the first page of this thread is 57.34 KB  or 58719 bytes.   That's just a tiny bit over half of a MB.   And you say yours is over 9 MB?!

Can you get the properties by right clicking the image.  OR what size does it say in the folder.

Image Shack will take up to 1024 kilobytes or roughly 1 MB.

When I click on properties on the picture in the ImageShack Uploads folderit says that it is 9.37 MB.  When I click on properties on the picture in the folder in "MY Picture" it says under the general tab that it is 1.17MB.  How did it get so big after being sent to the ImageShack Uploads folder?

I'm not sure.  The only thing I can think of is that you made it bigger in Irfanview.

Put the same picture in Irfanview again.  Go to the Image > Resize/ Resample option

Use the left hand column. Type 400 in the width area, have pixels ticked, and Preserve aspect ratio, then click OK.  Save the picture in the same folder it was, same name.

Now check the size in the folder.
