High in the big old oak tree
A bird sings out her melodic tune.
Me thinks, she wants to be an opera star
And she practices into the late afternoon.
Strains from Aida, Carmen or Madame butterfly
fill the air all the hot summer days.
But she'll probably just wind up a mommy
Singing lullabyes to her little jays.. |

Yesterday I saw a young blackbird fall out of a tree. The parents tried to lure the little to a safe place with food, but with all our cats, it wasn't soon enough; so I walked out there and chased the bird to where the parents were and everyone is happy. That stupid bird kept trying to come to me, so I kept yelling and waving my arms, I must have looked like a real fool if anyone saw me. lol. What do I care what they think. |

LOL, fishead you have me in stitches! But yes you are right, why should you care what you looked like, you were doing something good for the birds.
I must say, Katy, you have some natural ability in the poetry department. Have you messed around with writing poetry before?
Poetry writing is one of those things I'm completely deaf to, like music. I like to read poetry but writing it is way outside of me! Sometimes I even understand what I read.

No,I haven't done a lot of writing. But like you I love to read it. And thank you... of course, mine are not as deep as Spiders.... I guess I'm a shallow person |

I really like this poem Katy. It's short and to the point. On top of that, I can understand it...

I can relate to that poem also, it was good!
We have birdhouses all over and when I walk by the little ones start chirping, thinking I'm mom or something.
Enjoy the birds singing now because those noisy june bugs are about to start their racket in the trees. (up here in IL> anyway). |
