Nr, a page in my computer was changed. It was an html page in my website folders. It was a recent page I published not long ago, my weekly photo page with the full size image on it. I had to get the source code from the internet to change it back (the bad page wasn't published). This is the page:
http://www.fisheadtackle.com/week10.html
I really doubt I accidently pasted that code, I know I didnt. Besides, if I changed it I would have republished it but I didn't. So they had to be inside my computer. I figure they got in through ftp and when I closed it I cut them off so damage was limited. Or like you said, they would have done a lot more damage. If they got in through ftp somehow, the first thing they would see is my website folders, and probably that weekly folder because it is an active page, I use it often.

Is it possible that the code was already hacked when you downloaded it? I would have a hard time believing that someone has hacked your PC and has only modified that one file. If they can get into your PC, they would be causing havok on your PC, not looking for a single file to hack. And they would never be able to access your site through your FTP connection through your PC. They could obtain your login information, then log in using their own software. They would not be affected by whether you were logged in or not though, so they would be able to do far more damage than what you are reporting...
I really don't believe that the hacker has your login information. I think they are getting in through security holes on the IX side...

I am looking at other hosts. I wish you would find one and I would follow, and you could get affiliate pay. I was looking at monster host I think its called. The guy in the link above recommended it and I found it while looking around so I checked it out. They have a forum and seem like a good thing and the price isn't bad.

We tried Host Monster (Bluehost) for a day, but canceled it. I didn't like the FTP server and phpMyAdmin restrictions. I did like the HM Tech staff though. If we could combine the HM Tech Staff with the IX servers, I think that would make for the perfect host...

I saw this place highly recommanded on the phpBB2 Refugees forum. Have not found any review for them on the net anywhere.
Http Easyhost
This is what the guy on the forum said about them
I am moving to these people
http://www.httpeasyhost.com/
Its a Swedish company with brilliant support, they even phoned me last night, to let me know that all my files have been transfered to them.
They cost a bit more than IX and offer limited disk space but I think it's more than what we would need anyway. Not sure. I also read in that thread at the forum to be suspicious of Host that offer unlimited disk space, they will still find a way to limit you. And that's what IX did, they claimed we were using too much disk space and that's why they were moving us! What a crock!

Did you look at the details on their new server? It's not as good as your main PC and only has a 250 GB HDD. Either this is an extremely small operation or they are running on a shoestring budget. That may prove problematic down the road...

Hummm... Well would that be in addition to a bunch more or the only one? That doesn't seem right to me. Let's see if each customer gets 9GB for instance than that's just 27 customer. Right? Something wrong with that picture.

They may have other servers. But I am surprised that they are so proud of this one so much that they posted a message about it. This is not that great of a setup for a large commercial business. So to me either this is a very small outfit or they are running on a shoestring budget. Anyone can make a website company appear to be bigger than it is. It is possible that this server is in someone's home basement...

That sounds impressive. I was surprised that the new server isn't going to be using RAID. It needs 2 HDDs for RAID. They may have a network that maintains regular backups so no need for RAID on each server for all I know...
A server that only has a 250 GB HDD doesn't have a lot of room for very many clients especially if they are advertising unlimited storage per client. So that makes me wonder how many clients will be stored on each server. If they only put a small number on each server, that wouldn't be so bad but if they really load them up, space issues could be a common recurring problem...
We really need to figure out how to be our own host. We have the equipment and the storage space for it...
