I'm having a lot of problems burning video lately and can't quite get my finger on it, but while trying different things I tried roxio to burn my video segments as a movie. I thought roxio 6 was much better, but having trouble with that lately I got out roxio 8 again and I think I missed the main movie burning program that is hidden in with a bunch of other programs that are pretty worthless to me. Not only did it burn ok, but it burned very fast and has some nice features like animated thumbnail previews. I really missed the boat on this.

Back to my problems, it could be my main dvd burner is going out and my new  burner is just junk, making it hard to pinpoint whats going on. I have been using my external hp dvd burner this evening and no rejects and this after getting 4 rejects in a row today with other burner and software. I was able to back up all my new video to dvds in no time. That is why now I am again thinking it is my burners. I need to buy a GOOD replacement. Maybe another hp, they are looking good compared to the lite-on brand I bought for about $30.

I know my adobe elements 5 photoshop was a waste of money and I don't use it, but I sure like the premier elements 3 for video. Its not much different from e2, but has a nice narrative add in and other things are laid out better. I know it is more modern and my roxio 6 I was using wasn't cutting it with adobe. I noticed on the roxio 8 does except dolby, where 6 doesn't and that caused conflicts with adobe's dolby feature.

Anyway, thumbs up to roxio 8. I was wrong about it being worse than 6. One note, the adobe premier makes great segments, but forget burning the dvd with them, they are the worse. Use roxio or something else. Not only do they take 10 times as long to burn, but it likes to freeze up. It was taking 5 hours to burn a one hour dvd. It has a horrible bottleneck and they claim they don't have the bottlenecks other software has. Somethings adobe is the greatest, other things they are the worse. They need to lower their prices. I do feel like I got ripped off spending over 100 bucks and some I don't even use its so user unfriendly.

My CD/DVD recorder is Sonic record Now, which recently was taken over by Roxio... I never had trouble with my Sonic and decided one day to update and my recorder became Roxio in the process... well I couldn't get it to work at all and it wouldn't go back .. And when I tried to redownload my old software it wouldn't accept it saying I had newer software installed, even though I had  removed it in ADD /REMOVE.. I was really frustrated...  I ordered the CD of the install for the Roxio.. It came a few days later, I installed it and it's working perfectly... No trouble since... So the $55 I spent on the upgrade and another $5 for the CD have been worth it...I didn't get any bells or whistle with it...

I have had my troubles with them. They have gotten too big. I too have both sonic and roxio, only sonic on my laptop and it is what came with and its junk. I am limited and it wants me to register etc. I just don't use anything sonic. The other day when I was tried to use it it messed my pc up. They aren't perfect, no software is these days, but right now roxio is the only thing that works for me.

My roxio 8 has had two gigantic updates, rb sent me one on cd when I had dialup, because it was so big. I don't know what you bought for $55 but that doesn't sound right. My son got roxio with new pc and its junk, so he used my roxio 6.

I've read where people who know about making dvd/video claim one needs three programs to make good dvds. One is adobe premiere, roxio 8 and a sound editor is what I use, but not te sound editor much anymore since premiere 3 has such good sound editing.

I made a discovery today. I have my external dvd burner hooked up to new c. I copied one dvd disc to the other using both drives. The first one worked fine and the second failed. ?!!!

That has to be part of my problem with my older pc. It may have caused other problems too, but anyway I went back to new pc and loaded the movie onto HD first and make copies all day long without any errors. This is a huge find.

I really needed two computers anyway, two big computers I mean, I have 5 alltogether; but two are at 2 work stations so I can do double the work, like while I'm waiting for burns or renderings.

I know one thing, my 19" montier spoils me and i cant see well on smaller 17". My eyes just keep getting worse. I really need a flatscreen. That is on my list.

Roxio problems:
I am having the same problems with new pc as the old, roxio 8 burns the movies but the chapters won't play, it just takes you back to main menu only playing on section at a time. I turned menu off and it plays without a menu but it replays the movie over and over never stopping.

I tried loading roxio 6 on new pc but its not compatable with vista.
