Nightrider,

Sometimes on my forum i get logged out totally for no apparent reason, iv never thought anything of it before, but my friend just said its happened to her this morning, by the sound sof it, it happens quite regular, is there a chance you could check out to see whats going on for me?

I think it's a cookie problem, and you want to know what the weirdest thing is! I am all of a sudden today getting members complaining about being logged out. Strange coincidence, or related problem? I don't know.

Yes, it could very well be a cookie problem. Is it possible that you are using the same cookie name for several forums or utilities on the same domain? If so, you really want to make sure each are using a unique cookie name from the rest. Then you would want to clear the cookies in your browser for your domain and that should solve the problem...

I dont think im using the same cookie name, iv deleted my cookies anyway just now but it wa sonly done last week or week before anyway, how do you change the cookie name anyway?

Think summat was going on yesterday with the forum and maybe ftm's too coz its perfectly fine today!

It's actually getting worse for my users, so I changed my cookie names today before I read this. Yes, I was using the same cookie name for multiple forums, because I wuld use the default and never wanted to touch cookies unless I had too. But yes, they were all the same so hopefully it will be better now once everyone delete's their cookies.

Karen, you can change in your general admin, configuration area, but be careful with the cookie settings, you just want to change the name of the cookie.

I just re-read your answer Blake, and noticed you said the same cookie on the same domain, I don't have any forums that share the same domain, so I don't know if what I did will help.

I probably would have been more accurate saying same server rather than same domain name. The cookie path is /, so that places the cookie at the server level, not domain level. So if you had multiple domains on the same server, what you described could be happening if you were using the same cookie name in multiple places. Hopefully by correcting this, your problems will go away after the browser cookies for your server have all been deleted ...

Ok, then it should help. I do have some forums on the same server so I will go through them and make sure they all have a unique name. I just opened another forum and that seemed to be when it started, so that would all make sense. Thanks Blake!
