Ok, that's not good. What does your host require/allow for file permissions on your server? On almost all *NIX servers, the folder permissions are almost always 755, but some hosts also require that the file permissions be set to 755 as well. If that is the case, you will need to install a modified version of EM on your board. But if you have typical file permissions, then there is no need to install the modified version and it would be a waste of time to do so...
So check your file permissions and tell me what they are. If you have modified them and aren't sure what your host allows/requires, then simply upload a file and check its permissions. Your server software should correctly set the file permissions to what your host allows/requires...

I think you misread my message. I did not tell you to set any file permissions. I asked what your host requires/allows for file permissions. Neither 775 nor 777 are safe settings, so if you are using these for anything but a small number of folder permissions, you are placing your forum at risk of being hacked...
I need to know what your host allows/requires for FILE permissions. If you have modified everything, simply upload a FILE and then check it's permissions...
If you want me to take a closer look for you, send me a PM and we can go from there...

You will need to decrease the EM version before you can install this. If you can get into EM Settings in your ACP MOD Center, you can set the EM Version number to 0.2.0 at the bottom of the page. Then after uploading the Awardspace EM Version below, you can install it just the same as you did the standard version....
Awardspace Instructions w/Download
You can download this EM version that I have modified to work on Awardspace sites and any other site that requires that the file permissions be set to 755. The file can be found in the downloads/phpBB/EasyMod section at the top of the page. Make sure that all uploaded file permissions are set to 755:
easymod_awardspace.zip
Here are the instructions for modifying your EM installation files if you choose to do it yourself rather than use the modified EM version that I supplied above:
Awardspace Modifications
Your board requires script file permissions to be set to 755 instead of 644 like most other boards. So even if EM installs correctly, the EM file permissions would be set to 644...
Unfortunately for sites like your's, EM sets the file permissions to 644 when it modifies them. So go into the following files to set all matches of 0644 to 0755 before you install EM:
- easymod/em_includes/em_modio.php
- easymod/em_includes/em_ftp.php
Also, modify the check_file_scope function in your easymod/includes/admin_easymod.php.txt file by copying and pasting the code:
OPEN
easymod/includes/admin_easymod.php.txt
FIND
| Code:
|
|
if( !@file_exists(phpbb_realpath($filename)) || !strstr(phpbb_realpath($filename), phpbb_realpath($expected_scope)) )
|
REPLACE WITH
| Code:
|
//if( !@file_exists(phpbb_realpath($filename)) || !strstr(phpbb_realpath($filename), phpbb_realpath($expected_scope)) )
if( !@file_exists(phpbb_realpath($filename)) )
|
The check_file_scope function should now look like this:
| Code:
|
function check_file_scope($filename, $expected_scope, $simply_die = false)
{
global $db, $lang;
// make sure a file is located somewhere inside the specified directory
//if( !@file_exists(phpbb_realpath($filename)) || !strstr(phpbb_realpath($filename), phpbb_realpath($expected_scope)) )
if( !@file_exists(phpbb_realpath($filename)) )
{
$message = sprintf($lang['EM_modio_open_read'], $filename);
if( $simply_die )
{
$db->sql_close();
die($message);
}
message_die(GENERAL_ERROR, $message);
}
}
|
Save all the modified files and upload them to their proper sub-folders in the admin/mods/easymod folder. Then go ahead and try the EM install again...

Ok, then your file permissions should be set to 644, which is standard on most servers. You would not need to install the Awardspace version...
You probably want to go back and fix all the file permissions. That might be part of your problem. The folder permissions should remain at 755 though...

Dennis, you're getting some wierd errors that are typically caused when the folder permissions are set wrong. Unless EM has permission to read and write to and from folders, then you would see errors like you are seeing. So go back and look at the file and folder permissions to make sure everything is set correctly...
My offer is still open if you want me to take a closer look at it for you. Send me a PM if you are interested and we can go from there. Otherwise we can continue hammering away at the problem until we can figure out what might be causing this...
