COPY ERROR: You do not have copy access. Move method cannot be used.
I know this is probably hugely trivial to most people on here, but I have checked permissions within ftp and I have full access so why can't I progress my install? I really want a birthday mod on my forum!
This is so annoying, why can't I fix it? What do I need to do please? |

The SQL which you have made, have you given to that complete permission. I mean in your Cpanel, MySQL DataBases, have you given all the Privileges to the user and the database |

Welcome to RCF nickisace.co.uk!!!
There are no problems that are too trivial for us. Your problem isn't actually all that trivial and there probably could be several things causing it...
EM's Debug Information
Could you post the Debug Info that EM creates for you? Click on the Display Debug Info link:
Then copy and paste the Debug Info page here in your message. Do not embed it between code bbcode tags. The Debug Info page is already formatted to display correctly in your message...

Ok, there is your problem. Both your file and folder permissions are set to 707, which is an extremely unusual setting. I don't think I've ever encountered a site where the file and folder permissions were set like that by default. Did you change all the file and folder permissions on your forum???
On most servers, file permissions are set to 644 and folder permissions to 755. However, there are a few exceptions, such as Awardspace and Lycos to name a few, which require that both file and folder permissions be set to 755. The standard version of EM is set to use the standard file and folder permissions, so I have to adjust it to work on sites where the host requires different file and folder permissions. Hopefully that won't be the case on your site though...
Can you change the folder permissions to 755 and the file permissions to 644? If so, go ahead and do so. Don't forget to change the forum folder permissions as well. There are a few folders that should be set to 777, such as your cache and images/avatars folders, as well as any folder where you allow members to upload files to your server. The vast majority of your folder permissions should be set to 755 though...

Thanks for the reply, it's not hosted on my own server, it's through streamline.net. I haven't changed any permissions and would hope they'd not have anything to do with it.
Through FTP I can set different permissions but nothing that shows any numbers like 655 and 755 etc.
Help!? |

Ok, some FTP applications use both the numbers and text while others don't. You might want to consider downloading and installing SmartFtp if you aren't already using it. I highly recommend it because it is both free and a very powerful and reliable FTP application. You can't go wrong with it...
Here are the instructions for changing permissions on your files and folders...
CHMOD Permissions
Do you have the permissions of the folders set to 755 and the files set to 644? On most boards, the folder permissions must be set to 755 and the file permissions to 644. However on some, such as Awardspace and Lycos, the folder and file permissions MUST BE set to 755. Check some of your other non-EM file and folder permissions to determine what works on your site...
You can probably find instructions on how to do that at the site that provides your FTP application. I'm sure it varies from application to application...
I use SmartFTP. All you need to do is click on a folder or file in the right hand viewer and choose Properties/CHMOD or Alt+Enter
Then you can either enter the value, like 755 or 644, or you can click on the read, write, execute options, which do the same thing...

I use a program called ftp surfer, it has the check boxes to select read, write and excute but none of the advanced details. I'll download that ftp program and go from there!
Thanks for all this..... |

Good Luck with it nickisace.co.uk...
Here is a Chmod Calculator that hopefully can help you understand what 755, 777, 644, etc all mean. Try it out. Once you see how everything adds up, it might help a bit in your understanding of what you are doing when you change the file and folder permissions and where the numbers all come from:

Ah that makes it much easier to work out, thanks! Think I've set it right now, so just going through set-up again.
Now I am at this stage, I am sure I've set the permissions right based on that calculator.
