I made a mess up of a mod last night and the easiest thing to do was just delete the whole forum folder as well the database and just restore the backups. This morning I restore all the backup files and folders and the database but when I try to go to my website I just get a blank page
I’m not sure why that is, it happened before but it went a away after a while
I have 775 (CHMOD) set for my phpBB2 forum folder
Any ideas |

I had a good forum backup as well as a good database backup so i know its now that. I've restored the site files and database before and it wroekd fine. Why this time I'm getting nothing but errors for though I dont know
a whole day wasted because of this lol... not even been able to install one mod or anything

I am surprised that you chose to delete the forum rather than restore the EM backups. That could have prevented all of this...
The problem was caused because not all of the files from your forum backup were uploaded to your server. The entire db folder was missing, which I have now uploaded to your server. Your forum is up and running again...
The forum folder permissions should be set to 755, not 775. In fact, most of your folder permissions should be set to 755. There are exceptions, such as the cache and images/avatars folders as well as any folder where you allow members to upload files to your server. For those exceptions, the folder permissions must be set to 777. But since the 777 folder permission is so dangerous, it should only be used on a small number of folders. Otherwise, all other folder permissions should be set to 755...

Thanks Nightrider!
Well that’s the first time I’ve had that happen. Usually everything gets backed up. Why the Db folder was missed for I don’t know. Well, I was a bit tired last night but that shouldn’t have anything to do with it lol. It’s not hard to copy the djpassions folder from the server to HD. I’m guessing my ftp software or internet connection must have played up at some point when copying the files that's all
As to the permissions stuff that’s all what got me. I can never seem to pick up on what permissions to use etc. I’m forever working with different servers ie windows /linxus and as they use different permissions I can never seem to remember which do which
I need some permissions lessons me thinks lol
Thanks for bringing my website back to life though Nightrider heh…. I can crack on now |

I always use SmartFtp's Gobal Queue option to download and upload large numbers of files. That way I make sure that I never miss anything. SmartFtp's Gobal Queue option will continue until all files are downloaded/uploaded. If the server disconnects during the process, SmartFtp's Global Queue will reconnect and continue where it left off. SmartFtp's Global Queue process is the safest way that I have found to move large numbers of files and folders to and from the FTP server...
