All I have in my .htaccess are the rewrite rules. The .htaccess file is in the root folder (domain root) but because of the rewrite rules /forum/ it works with the /forum folder

The thing I'm noticing with your forum path is you have put /vehicles/forum/

you should just use /forum/ (meaning leave the 'vehicles' part out. but then put the htaccess file into the vehicles root folder (not the domain root folder) as I’m guessing you have quite a few sites running of the host you are using hence you have a vehicles folder...

As for you having all the FrontPage rules and redirects in the htaccess file they shouldn't be needed. If you used an FTP program say FileZila which is free then you'd most likely not get those FrontPage commands and redirects being written to the htacces file. Leaving you with just the forum rewrites in the htaccess file instead.... which is how mine is set up and works.

Still try doing the above first. But yeah, if you do have to leave the FrontPage stuff in the .htaccess file be sure to leave it at the bottom. Have your rewrites rules at the top!

Let me know how you get on Abdul

If i edit the files from FP, i can restore backups easily. And just now i am trying to copy the MOD folder to vehicles from SmartFTP but this is too slow and not copying it. So to me FP is better. I will talk to my host again. I think they are sleeping Very Happy

I guess the reason smartfTP doesn't work very fast for you is something to do with your firewall blocking the program or maybe just limiting the outbound connection from FTP to your host where you're wanting to upload files too. Or it could be that you have a really slow pc, I doubt this is the case though because you run many websites and having a slow pc to maintain all your website would be a right nightmare otherwise lol. It could be a firewall problem though. Which firewall protection do you use Abdul as normally it’s just a case of permitting the firewall to allow an inbound/outbound connection with whatever program it is you wanting to use…

Hi Chris,

I must say you to install Guest_session_mod as it's said in phpbb-seo.com because This mod removes session id for guests from url and this way guests who don't have cookies like different robots will use correct urls. It can be used to allow googlebot and other search engines to spider your forum correctly.

And you know all the search engines while indexing our page, they are guests too and they index with the sid id which is not good. I have just installed this MOD and hope it will give some benefits along with the Advanced Rewrite MOD.

Thanks once again Chris for helping me all the way and NightRider as well as rb2d2.

No problem... glad to help  Applause

As to the guest session mod I'll try and install this but is it meant to be installed first? I already have the rewrite mod installed you see. Is it ok to install the session mod after...  Smile

Yeah, no problem if you install after that. By the way, i just asked for some more help at phpbb-seo and i wrote to them

Thanks a lot Smile
I am so happy Sir that you can't even imagine it Wink

You are great and your support as well.

Can you please check and verify it's working everywhere fine or not www.funwadi.com/forum

By the way Sir, what other MODs i should install such as Guest_session_mod.

Can you tell me that the pages which google have indexed are around 9,600 for my site so what will happen to them? How should i keep them also as well as let search engine to index the new one's too?

and got reply

Quote:

Well it looks like it's working great Very Happy

Now, since you had 9860 indexed page at Google for your forum, I'm sure you'll be happy to hear the zero duplicate (advanced version) http://www.phpbb-seo.com/boards/zero-duplicate/advanced-zero-duplicate -vt678.html is the perfect mod to go with the mod rewrite, it will HTTP 301 redirect all previously indexed url to their new rewritten ones Very Happy

Thing like : http://www.phpbb-seo.com/boards/viewforum.php?f=45 and http://www.phpbb-seo.com/boards/where-is-the-dupe-vf45/ Wink

Then, my advise would go for GYM sitemaps (http://www.phpbb-seo.com/boards/gym-sitemaps/google-yahoo-msn-sitemap s-and-rss-vt21.html)  and mx sitemaps (http://www.phpbb-seo.com/boards/phpbb-seo-toolkit/mx-sitemap-module-v t4.html), as well as Optimal titles(http://www.phpbb-seo.com/boards/phpbb-seo-toolkit/optimal-title s-vt665.html) and dynamic meta tags mods(http://www.phpbb-seo.com/boards/phpbb-seo-toolkit/phpbb-seo-dynam ic-meta-tags-vt74.html), all really useful SEO wise.

Well, I will now look at all the MODs which the admin of that site told me and if possible will install all because all are better for SEO.

Good Luck with it  Applause

Hmm I don't have the zero duplicate advanced version I don't think all mines says is this phpBB-SEO-Advanced-mod-Rewrite_V_0.2.2

So I guess yours is different to mine. The thing is my forum is new so there’s no index to get lost although I suppose I could do with using the one you’re using anyway...?

As to the session id's is this one you used Very Happy
