Can't you just restore the EM backups and get back to square one???

Well thats what i done with them. I was thinking it should have been ok because the Mods backups are restored.
I think i mite be mixed up. I backed the mods up which made them re appear in Easy MOD. Then reinstalled the mods threw there. Does the backups not reset the code? Meaning it didnt duplicate? |

When you install a MOD using EM, EM creates backups of all the files that it modifies as they appear at that moment. That's why you have to Restore Backups in reverse order that they were installed. So if you Restored all the EM backups, then NONE of your MODs would be installed in any template, not even the Quiz MOD because EM is restoring the files from the backups folders, which don't include any of the MOD code for that MOD but all of the MOD code for all MODs installed prior to that point. So as you restore back to the beginning, then eventually your phpBB files will be back to pristine (vanilla)...
It might be easier to start with clean (unmodified) phpBB files and templates. You can do that without losing your data in your database if you do not run the phpBB Install. Otherwise, you lose everything...

I think thats where the mix up is. The Quiz etc didnt need to be backed up.
It seemed to work fine when i reinstalled the template.
The only mods i backed up are the mods that ive posted here.
Not every mod i have |

But if you started from scratch with the SoftBlue template, then NONE of the MODs were installed in it. When you started reinstalling MODs, it sounds like you didn't create template only versions of your MODs so that ONLY the SoftBlue files were being modified. So ALL of your files, whether it was SoftBlue or not, were being modified. And from what you said, those MODs were already installed in the non-SoftBlue files. So you were duplicating the MOD code in a lot of your phpBB files, which would make a huge mess...
So am I understanding this correctly???

I dont understand how the Quiz MOD, Link Exchange and a few added pages still worked when i reinstalled Softblue
I just re added their links to my overall header file and once clicked they worked fine |

That would be because those MODs probably only modified the overall_header.tpl files in order to add a link to the program. But no other phpBB files needed to be modified. They included their own separate code and files, which weren't lost by replacing the SoftBlue template...

Then the only mods that mite have duplicated themselves are small mods. Nothing big at all, just small things like the today yesterday mods etc
I had problems with these - Today-Yesterday Mod 1.0.2a (now fixed), Simple Subforums MOD (now fixed), Advanced BBCode Box MOD
I backed up and reinstalled these
Birthday 1.5.9 Niels 2.0.22
News Block Mod 1.0.4 dannyscats 2.0.22
ImageShack MOD 1.0.1
And these stayed with no problems
Photo Album v2 for phpBB2 2.0.55 Smartor
Advanced Link Exchange Mod
Ultimate Quiz MOD 1.3.3 battye 2.0.21 s
Admin Userlist 2.0.2 wGEric 2.0.21
Log Actions MOD
