I'm kinda lost now , I have been reading some other threads and not sure if i installed it right , i thought i did until now and was getting error now wonder if error is cos i didnt install fully .... anyways i edited all the files and uploaded them and everything appeared where should have then configured it and said was successful then went to add a title thru profile and no matter what i did i got title is to long i had it set for 20 characters and was using between 6 and 12 and got to long each time so tried thru acp and got forbidden access to admin board config.php i believe it was if not was admin users.php I think the forbidden access might have been something in my cookies because earlier today i went to pm someone on site and got forbidden access to prvmessage.php i deleted cookies set by my board relogged in and could pm so that might have been same thing as far as the error i got in apc im not sure i reinstalled my original files over edited ones when saw i was having some trouble so figured when i got some info or help on this id reupload and try again any ideas ? If you have restored your backups for this MOD, let's try using EM to install it. I have Aexoden's Custom Title MOD version 1.0.2. Is that the same that you are using? If not, could you provide a link to the version that you are using???

I was using 1.0.1 thats all i had seen I dl'ed it from phpbbhacks i have two copies both are 1.0.1not sure where i got the 2nd copy anyways i just went and got 1.0.2 , so now if i understand you correctly you want me to go ahead and extract and upload the text file in the ezmod install zip named Custom_Title_Axedon and try it with ezmod, I was doing it manually because after the install I was going to try modding it some by taking edits out of few files so title can only be added thru acp and not users profile , Now reading some more If I understand it correctly I can set it up where only admins can add title thru acp anyway is this correct ?. eagerly awaiting your reply Thanks, Cowboy

I'm still a little confused by this section
1. Extract the included easymod_install.zip into your admin/mods/ directory.
This will automatically create the necessary EasyMOD setup.
2. Using the "Install MODs" section in the administration panel, install the
MOD. Follow the standard EasyMOD MOD installation instructions.
3. Place the included title_install.php into your root phpBB directory, and then
run it. This will make the necessary database alterations.
Am I to upload it and run thru ezmod first then run the title_install.php

never mind I seem to have some more problems all the sudden when i log in to ezmod it shows me unprocessed mods when i click to process it everything but the menu disappears in my acp I can look at history fine and when go to look at settings same thing happens everything but menu in acp is gone just blank on right hand side of acp and when looking at unprocessed mod in preview it shows all the files its going to edit but when i click on a file to see the chnages im getting Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /mysite/admin/admin_easymod.php on this server. I dont know whats going on I have'nt ever had this forbidden message happen before, everything on my board was working correctly dontknow

I have helped several people with installing this MOD but I really don't know a lot about it. So we can get it installed using EM and then learn how it works. If you don't like it, you can always use EM's Restore Backups utility to quickly and easily restore the board to what it was before installing the MOD...

Ok, based on the edit, it sounds like your file permissions on your server are something other than 644. Who is your host? You may have to install a modified EM version based on the answer to this question...

My host is jjiweb hosting and unless its something hes done in last few days Ive always been able to access everything, and according to what i see in my ftp some of my folders are 777 others 644

Ok, that may be part of the problem. Your host may not allow folder permissions to be set to 777. That is a very dangerous setting that should be used sparingly and on some servers, it's just not allowed. The only folders that should be set to 777 are your cache and images/avatars folders as well as any folder where you allow members to upload files to your server. But the far majority of your folders should be set to 755 and if your host prevents the use of 777, then all of your folders should be set to 755...

Ok I just checked and all of my folders in root are set at 755, inside admin my mod and em includes are at 777 all the files in admin are at 644, everything inside of cache , db , docs are all 644 inside of images my avatars and smiley folders are 755 all the rest the files inside are 644, inside of includes all files are 644 theres a sql folder its set at 777, langauge is 755 and everything inside it is 644 except for an email folder its 755, templates are 755 with admin and images set at 755 all the rest of files are 644

Edit:
the other day while uploading some files and in my ftp I thought I saw a backup folder in admin or mods for ezmods and now I dont see that anywhere was I seeing things or should there be a folder in mods or ezmods called bkups ?

Ok, all the folders that you listed should be set to 755, not 777. That could cause what you saw...

When you process a MOD, EM creates two new folders inside of the MOD folder: backups and processed. It doesn't do it when installing EM though. In these folders, EM stores the modified files before and after they were modified and uses the files in the backups folder when using EM's Restore Backups utility...

ok i have set them to 755 i dont get forbidden anymore but get page cant be displayed and I have used ezmod to install a few mods and i dont see a proccessed or backup folder anywhere now and im sure i did the other day , also pm'ing you something has me concerned now
