I think the more modded your board, the longer you might end up waiting to update after phpBB 3 (Olympus) is released unless you don't mind losing some functionality. Many of the MODs installed here may not be available for phpBB 3 until long after its official release. I doubt that we will be updating even long after phpBB 3 is released. We would lose far too much by doing so...

I don't like the look of the phpBB.com site now either. It looks pretty childish and unprofessional to me. I have yet to hear from anyone who does like how it looks. Based on the recent flawed phpBB Updates, I'm not surprised that they continue to screw up. I highly doubt that the site went down due to a double-disk failure. I imagine that they were hacked but refuse to admit it our of fear of having their reputation further eroded...
