They sent me four fixes to try, the latter 2 are very complicated.

Download the Fix here. Ok, I did, its a compressed file on pc now;

Extract the file to your phpBB root directory and run once.

How? What is root directory, those blue pages from inside shell icon? I can upload, isn't that the same? Should I use ftp? Should I send compressed folder, or should I extract a file? Which file? then what do I do, do to directory and do what? Run? What does that mean? There is no run anywhere I can see, nor do I see directory written anywhere? I can try things simular to run, like oprn file, preview, download, upload etc etc. but no RUN anywhere. I understand the delete part, and that is all. I can follow instructions but if a directory isn't labelled anywhere I don't know what ot where it is.

I have to babysite all week, this problem is long term and I think it will end with me starting a new website and new forum uunder a different name, and I think I will just ask them to do that instead. I don't even think they understand my problem, which is - my user profile is stuck trying to upload subsilver2 and its so corrupted now I can't even work on it in directory without it going bananas and asking me to sign in over and over in directory and I can't admin my forum at all now. Yep, I think I will have to start over again. At least I'm not too far into this.

I haven't been frustrated with this yet until now. I lost my good help and now I have some guy that isn't clear, seems to be just giving me the run around.

The forum and website are worthless as they are, with my signin name all corrupted so I am thinking about cancelling the website and forum and maybe search for a new host.

Everything was going well, and actually what I did with template I think was coreect, but now its sick and they can't help except give me complicated instructins that don't seem to work and half the steps are missing. Like, there is no "RUN" anywhere and so here I sit with the fix sitting there with no way to "run it" like they said. I can install it and it does nothing but make another copy of what I alredy have. If I click on icon it opens first page. I'm pretty sure this is a run around to get rid of me.

So don't post on my forum because if they don't do something more I wioll cancel the website and forum and try to find a different host that doesn't give the run around. Thats sad, it was going so well.

I have to rant to relieve pressure:

I am still learning the structure of things. They said the fix only works in MySQL, and so I'm lost already. The instructions are simple enough but I don't understand or know what RUN is or what DIRECTORY is for sure and I don't know how to access MySQL, do I do it from my IX CPanel? Or through FTP? Or could I use My shell3?

A directory..., I have dozens in pc, if they don't tell me which one I am lost. Could be directory in FTP, or MySQL, or this or that maybe in a shell?

RUN, I run all kinds of things, couldn't they tell me WHAT to run, maybe a little definition of what run is and does and maybe where it is and how to do it? Rb tried to explain but it just doesn't make sence to paste a url into browser then shut it down, what does that do? Nothing! Paste in notepad? That seems strange, do I tap my toes together three times next? It just doesn't make sense.

Whenever they are telling you to run something, they have either given you a URL to a file on their server or they have given you a file that you are supposed to upload to your server and run from your browser. By run, they mean load the page in your browser just like you would any other Internet web page...

I sent you a PM and once I get the login details and an idea of what kind of problems you are having and what you have been told to do to correct them, then I should be able to get you back on track. None of this stuff is really difficult once you understand some basics, so don't let it stress you out. I have a lot of patience, so if there is a problem, we can work it out if you let me know what's going on...

Nr, about as soon as I start doing something the baby cries, that is causing me stress, makes everything harder. Mom woke him up at lunch and so I don't get a break today and he is teething again.

Anyway, I have some notes here that probably don't make sense since I get interupted every 5 minutes.

Rb, I didn't mean anything when I said tap toes together, I am knocking myself, not you or others really, I just am trying to learn too fast and sometimes nothing makes sense to me.

The problems I'm having is I cannot access my forum admin, when I sign in I get the fatal error page, and can't see forum again untill I reboot.

The other problem is while in webshell3 it keeps asking me to sign in but it doen't do anything when I do, it just keeps posting the sign in box so I have to close the window and reopen. This only gets worse as time goes, its getting so bad I can only look at the first page in webshell3, then it acts like a virous asking to sign in over and over sometimes multiple sign in boxs pop up. I think my CP files are corrupted.

I was told this fix only works with MySQL and I can't find a root directory in there.

I am still trying to understand the "run" and the "directory". Its not so much that I don't know what they, but also how to do it.

To be honest I don't think these can be fixed.

Ok I have the fix in a folder, what is the next move? open Winzip? FTP? IX CPanel MySQL? webshell3? firstpage to copy the code to paste in MySQL query? if so which one? or extract fix from my pc folder?

I am getting the idea it is something like this: Extract the fix with winzip and save in same folder next to the zipped version, send by FTP to root directory in webshell3, run the fix by copying the url in FTP and pasting right back into FTP browser bar, delete the fix. Right? heck no.

uh oh, I just found what htaccess means. I clicked on that a couple times while trying t figure out to to get forum installed. Thats probably why I keep getting that sign in window while in CP/webshell. Now I will have to try to find if I can undo that some how. I think I must have been in forum section when I clicked on it.

All I can say is ..., thats how I learn and if its unfixable it was still worth the money to learn, for me. I hope you can help me niterider

nevermind last post.

Rb, I just went through the motions ok but it didn't work. I will keep trying it but I finally see where the url is. I think that was html or maybe the path, I tried tasting them both after I sent the file to directory. I know my way around a little now. Everyone take a break and let me learn for a few days, when I get a chance that is.
