I haven´t done nothing with the addon yet. I uninstalled the Image Shack MOD because I wanted to see how the Attachment MOD works, I´d never seen it in action. Yesterday I managed to install it, all manually, what a job. devil1

Since then I´m facing a (hopefully unimportant) email-problem which I´m trying to solve. I don´t know if it´s got something to do with that MOD, everybody says it hasn´t) or that there´s another thing that went wrong.

I don´t know yet which image facility I prefer on the end. The Attachment MOD seems nice, it´s simple, fast and doesn´t give any publicity nuisance.

I´m glad you experience my responses as helpfull but you seem pretty able to state your case on your own. Nice to know that wGEric is with you.

Ptirhiik seems to be very convinced of his ideas. I as someone who doesn´t have knowledge can only say that I´m very comfortable with EM. The whole thing seems to be a sort of fight between the old fashioned horseriders and the too modern believers in the usefullness of cars, or something like that. It really is a pity that there is so much apparent rivalry amongst some MOD authors.

Let´s hope that we are going to see Ptirhiik accept your invitation to start contributing positively to the Area51.

As soon as I have some time I will give your addon a try and´ll let you know how it goes. Here on your board it seems to be working fine though.

I'm surprised that you manually installed the Attachment MOD when you could have used EM to do it in a fraction of the time. I have a modified copy of Attachment MOD 2.4.3 that you could have quickly and easily installed and I would have been happy to provide it for you...

Both the Attachment MOD and the ImageShack MODs are installed here. They both have advantages and disadvantages. The Attachment MOD stores the files on your server so that you never have to rely on a 3rd party to be up and running at all times. But if you have limited server space, it really would be a burden storing files on your server, which could quickly eat up your space. When you use sites like ImageShack to host your graphics, you never lose space that could be used for other things...

Up until today, I thought that wGEric was against me. So it really floored me when I read his PM. It's nice to know that he appreciates what I've contributed in Area 51 and is asking for advice for the next EM version. That really made my day and was totally unexpected...

Usually when you see that emailer error, it is caused because your Outgoing email server is down and needs to be reset by your host. Unless you have recently modified the email.php file, I imagine that the solution is to call your host and ask them to reset the Outgoing and Incoming email servers for you. I would be surprised if you are able to send any email from your site right now regardless of what you use...

First I tried to install 2.3.4 with EM but ran into problems without getting to know the origen. I then found out there´s a new version, 2.4.5, which I decided to insatll manually, to avoid problems again. When I was halfway through i regreted the manual thing but well, got to the end, halfblind and numb.

And when I was finished I read somewhere thst you made this EM friendly version.

As I didn´t know Image Shack and Attach MOD are compatible I uninstalled Imgae Shack, for the just in case thing. Now I see you got both of them up here, so they are compatible. I won´t have much database problems, I´ve got I believe 150mb and a small forum, for the moment, and I´ll make sure my users won´t overload my DB. What I find the inconvenience with Image Shack is the extra steps before uploading is finished plus the publicity stuff, I got even a popupwindow with some kind of woman looking for something. On the upload page I saw ads with women looking for friendship. This is not the worst bit, they were sayng to be from cities very near to where I live, which means some tracking is done. Things I don´t like at all, not for me nor for my visitors. One thing I also don´t like from facilities like Image shack, Photobucket, etc. is that they can have problems which affect me and other users. Allthough it´s not really quite likely they will have serious problems one never knows if he´s safe with them.

But what else can wGEric say? You are doing a hell of a nice job at area51. I´m glad you were positively surprised by him. Hopefully Ptihriik will do something similar.

The funny thing is that I don´t use the email function. I just get an error message instead of my post posted. I can answer in existing topics without a porblem, but I can´t post. On one testboard. Since yesterday, earlier on it was all okay but for some strange reason this fluke came up. On other testboards with the same settings I can post without any prob.

I guess I should start the board back from zero and see if and when the error shows up again. Allthough I´m quite sure things went wrong right after having installed Attachment MOD.

Should I be able to send messages from my board, for PM or new member validation and such?
