I've checked the files, folders, permissions, paths, everything I can think of. And it still either says something about invalid port or...
"Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in blah blah, admin/mods/easymod/em_includes/em_ftp.php on line 868
then later on another try line 866."
I'm sure glad I waited till my last bout of fibro fog was over before I tried this again. |

When you see the invalid Port message, try the Rescan option...
Rescan Option
Ok, do you see a rescan option at the bottom of this page? If so, click on it. Hopefully on the next page, you will be given the Automcatic Detection option. If so, go with it...

I used the port # that I use for my FTP program so that is not a issue anymore (I don't think)
If I hit the rescan button I get sent back to the install page.
Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /mounted-blah/blah/admin/mods/easymod/em_includes/em_ftp.php on line 866 |

You shouldn't have to change the default Port number. Try using your FTP address in place of the default localhost...

Well finally decided to go manual. After some uploading and checking back to see what was next I finally got to the Install complete stage. The second board hung on the complete processing the confirm wouldn't come up but just kept backing up and going at it again till something quit glitching, The 3rd went straight in with no problems.
I removed the install file but gotta go read what all gets taken out as I don't remember. |

Since EM has been successfully installed on your site, I see no good reason to install it using the manual option. That means that you will have to use the manual option for all MODs that you want to install too, which would be a real PITA. I doubt that you want to go that route...

I meant I had to manually upload the files on that one board for some reason em kept saying it didn't have access. The other 2 boards didn't have a problem with auto installing em except for one getting hung up there at the end.
All three are o.k. now as when I went into control panel all the test came back O.K. |

If EM told you to manually upload the files to your server, then that means you installed using the manual option. IOW, when you install a MOD, you will have to download the files to your PC, then upload them back to your phpBB board. I don't think that's what you really want to do though, especially since you don't have to...
Am I still misunderstanding???

It acted a little goofy so I changed the version # at the bottom of the settings page and installed over top that time it went just fine.
It's kinda weird that that one board acted so messed up when teh other two did fine.
But it's working. Hummm wonder why your spellcheck doesn't do anything when I click on it? |

That is weird that it didn't work correctly the first time around. Who knows why/ I guess that's one of the great mysteries of life...
The Spell Checker seems to be working correctly for me. Maybe you're overdue for a reboot or something...
