This is a follow up on my installing the amazon mod. Just want to know as may need to some day Scuze me sorry will need it!
So one installs something then decides hummmm works but don't like it.
How does one go about uninstalling.
There isn't an uninstall button on EasyMod.
My very uneducated guess would be to remove it from the mods file. Then replace each file affected with the original (backup) before install.
Then would think that the next step would be to restore the database with the backups.
Am I anyways close?
Now isn't there some temp stuff somewhere? Refering to if using EasyMod it tells you nothing has been changed till you confirm.
Or what about unsuccessfull installs. Half in half out.
Hey Nightrider. You can look at my test board and see what EM does with that photoalbum. It tries but then the album isn't EM compliant in the first place. I had to take a peek though LOL. |

There is a Restore Backup utility in EM 0.3.0. And a MOD isn't installed until you get to Step 3. So if you never got that far, the MOD is not partially installed. It never got to the point where it modified any of your live files...
Restoring EM Backups
If a MOD that you installed with EM hosed your board or you decide that you just don't want it, simply go into EM History in your ACP MOD Center and click on the Details button next to the MOD entry.
On the bottom of the next page, select Restore Backups and press the Go button. Make sure you DON'T select the Remove Record option or you will be forced to manually rolll back the EM backups that were created for you. I will have to walk you through that if need be...
Then you will be asked if you are sure you want to do this, and of course you would say Yes:
MODs can only be uninstalled in reverse order that they were installed: FILO (First In, Last Out). So if you installed a MOD, then several others, then decided to remove the first one, you would have to Restore the backups of the other MODs before you could Restore the backups on the first MOD that you installed...
Restoring EM Backups (Manual Instructions)
Download the backups folder that EM created for you in the MOD sub-folder found in admin/mods. Strip the .txt extension from each file in every folder in the backups folder. So the resulting file extensions will be php, tpl, css, and cfg. Upload the files back to their proper locations on your board; i.e.
- copy backups/admin/*.* to phpBB/admin/*.*
- copy backups/includes/*.* to phpBB/includes/*.*
- copy backups/language/lang_english/*.* to phpBB/language/lang_english/*.*
- copy backups/templates/subSilver/*.* to phpBB/templates/subSilver/*.*
- copy backups/*.* to phpBB/*.*
Of course if you have alternate templates and language folders, you will need to copy the files for them as well. I'm referring to phpBB as your forum's root folder in the above copy commands. If your root folder has any other name, just substitute phpBB with the name of your forum's root folder name...

There is a way to uninstall mods. NR has shown me before But I can't remember, but I think if you go into where your mods are using your FTP program, there is something there.
Or you could uninstall manually reversing the steps that you did when installing if you did it manually. Not a good idea though. |

I got that copied and printed out (with pics) and inserted into my hard copy folder.
You know they say computers were suppose to relieve paper clutter but I find I actually have more paper than I ever did
Thanks NR I did the uninstall of the amazon mod without a hitch. |
