Is there any way to enlarge an image so that you don't lose any quality and detail?

I want to enlarge my TAA logo to a large size. Roughly 500 x 500 or a tad smaller.

I just tried and can't do it.  It looks awful.  However, bigR is very good with graphics and perhaps she will come along and can do a better job than what I just did.  Heck, Blake's LaiLai could do a better job than I did!  LOL

That's quite an enlargment you want.  BigR will probably want the original image, do you have that?

Not exactly sure how big I want it but I thought if there was a program then I could just muck around with it. Maybe double or triple the size.

Glenn, enlarging images is a messy proposition. Generally, it doesn't work well, especially from very small sizes because there are few pixels to work with. So when they get multiplied in the enlargement, they make the image pixelated, all full of jaggies.

As RB said, if you have the original image, especially if you can get it in the graphics program format that created it, you'll have a better chance of enlarging it. I can't make a good enlargement from the posted .gif file.

There does. or do, exist expensive programs that use fractals to fill in the missing pixels in enlargements. However, they work better on photos than on logos, I think.

Your best bet might be to make a new logo, using whatever graphics program you have, at the size you want, by copying the font, colors and effect of the current logo. If you have a vector graphics program, use that, so the image will resize neatly to any size you want.

well u could enlarge an image without loosing quality if u have the patience and know the technique to convert each of the pixels to vectors..
current image formats like jpeg, tiff, gif are all in rasters...so u will not be able to do that..
use adobe illustrator cs2 and auto convert to vectors and cope the vectors as new image and u can enlarge as much as u want!

Hi gdatuk.  You sound like you really know what you're talking about!  Not only do you know about the business of images but also Microsoft Word.

That's wonderful.  Now I'm especially glad to have you aboard.  Once the word gets around this forum may get snowed under with questions.  I may be leading the pack!

Thank you for the replies.  Appreciate your help very much.

Applause

Boy Gdatuk I'm impressed with your knowledge of graphics.  I know nothing about he subject and just barely know enough to understand what you're talking about.  I'm still learning some of the basic PC "Stuff" and am alwyas eager to learn more.  If the next time you post something graphicy and notice me sitting around watching with my mouth open I don't mean to be rude.  Just enthralled.
