Hope this is the right place for this.
Whenever I am on a site that uses phpBB I get no movement from the smilies. Anywhere else and they work fine.
Any ideas.
My firewall is EZ Armor Firewall, provided by RoadRunner.
Thanks for the help.
GrayDragon
ps: the only two sites that I know of that uses phpBB is this one and Jaddon.com. |

Are you saying that you see no movement in any of the animated icons from this or Jaddon's board???

Ok, I didn't see your second message before I posted my reply above. Do you have any settings in your firewall that you can change to allow the animated icons to work? I have never heard of a firewall that blocks animated images. You shouldn't have to turn your firewall off to see them...

GrayDragon, I have Roadrunner also. You could scrap EZ Armor Firewall and install the free ZoneAlarm instead. Can't be beat!!

rb,
I really do like and trust my ez firewall. It has really worked well for me and I don't want to get rid of it. I guess I am just gonna have to experiment until I find the setting which is preventing the animations.
Thanks anyhow. I did download zonealarm, just in case. |

OK, GrayDragon. Most likely the problem is with the security settings. Zone Alarm recommends a setting of High for the Internet Zone but that can prevent some things from working so I keep mine at medium. So far, and I've used ZA for years, I have not had a problem with attacks or Trojans. However I use Netscape for just about all my browsing and not Internet Explorer. Netscape has some of it's own built in safety features
Other than that you might check the settings in IE if you use it for browsing. Medium for Internet is an ok setting. If set on High it definitely will prevent some functions from working.
