My forum is located at http://messageboard.theaussieaviator.net/ but I want to change it to the main url of http://www.theaussieaviator.net/

So when you went to http://www.theaussieaviator.net/ the forum would open.

I have been thinking for a couple weeks to do away with the main site. I have asked my members if they visit or use it and so far those who have responded only go to the forum.

I don't get much time to add stuff to the main site so am looking at something that will be less time consuming for me. I have seen a mod that adds a blank page to the forum. I was thinking if I wanted some content then I could use this.

Anyway just wanna know how much work is involved in changing the url.

To move your board from the http://messageboard.theaussieaviator.net/ link to only http://www.theaussieaviator.net/, you will need to move all of your phpBB files up to your public_html folder. Then you will need to change the path in the phpbb_config table to / instead of messageboard/. You might have to change any graphic links you might have that would point to messageboard/images or anything like that. Glenn, it would be very easy to do this though and I would be happy to help you do it...

You can either move the files and folders directly from your FTP program or you can upload backup files so that the whole thing is transparent to your members. Then once you are ready, you can redirect your members from your messageboard folder to the public_html folder. That is probably the best way to go...
