I'm not surprised, there have a few terrible hurricanes just during my lifetime.

Me too, but the closest was Hurricane Carla in 1961, through which I slept after having four wisdom teeth pulled out! |

I spent the night at my parents house that night right in the path of Carla. I thought the house would go any minute. My daughter was one year old. A China tree came right thought the kitchen window.
Besides my parents there were 3 other families. Most of the first day, all night and most of the next we all stayed there. There were mattresses all over the house. Although most of the men slept sitting up in the living room.
Good fortune my mom had three frozen turkeys in the freezer and one of my aunts had brought dozens of eggs and the other had brought several loaves of bread. Butane tank in the yard, we never ran out of fuel, although there was no electricity. We didn't starve that's for sure. LOL
What an experience!
