I thought I would keep everyone updated on the progress of this installation just in case some one else is looking at installing at Awardspace.
Phpbb install.
This went very easy just remember to make your database before you do the phpbb install so you don't get errors.
I did this install through FTP with "Cute FTP" because well its free
I have read here that there are some permission issues on this host so I watched carefully for permission changes.
After installation of phpbb 2.0.22 I tried changing permissions in Cute FTP with out any issues whatsoever. I don't know if Awardspace fixed the problem it was having with permissions reverting back but I changed permissions and 777 the image folder and its still 777. I will keep an eye on it but it seams stable.
Since Nightrider so kindly made a custom installer for "Easy Mod" I thought that would be my first move.
I always decompress on my machine first then upload files via FTP . I don't know why I do this perhaps its just habit.
Anyway I uploaded easymod as a folder to phpbb/admin/mods
Ran the /admin/mods/easymod/easymod_install.php and made a mistake on inserting my FTP info.
I copy and pasted my user name and must have picked up a space or something when I copied it. So it failed. The next page I hit was the "Good News" page where it said that easy mod has seen that it can install itself so I clicked on it and followed the steps to finish the installation.
Step 1 choose a password
Step 2 click on the "Install EasyMod" button
Step 3 click on "Complete Processing" button
Step 4 click on "Confirm" button
Step 5 There really is no step 5 it just takes you to a page that should tell you "Installation Confirmed EasyMOD is installed" in giant green text at the bottom of the page.
Ok got it done.
Tomorrow I will attempt to install Code Crush IP Log. A mod I feel is of primary importance for administrators. I have it on another forum and feel crippled with out it. It is not on the Easy MOD compatible list so it should give me a headache. Some hosts don't allow the .csv file for some odd reason and that causes problems on its installation. I have never tried to install it using EasyMOD before so this should be fun.
Details to follow...

The problem isn't that Awardspace prevents you from changing the file and folder permissions. It's when you change the file permissions to the standard 644 permission, you will see a 500 Internal Server error when you attempt to view the page. All file permissions MUST BE set to 755 on Awardspace servers. That's why you needed the modified version of EM since the regular version sets file permissions to 644...

Yes, on IX, you can change the settings, but many wouldn't make any sense. You would not want to block access to yourself and the world, so you would want to use 644 for all of your file permissions and 755 for most of your folder permissions. You would want to use 777 for a few folders such as the cache and images/avatars folders as well as any folder where you allow members to upload files to your server. But the vast majority of the folder permissions should be set to 755 on almost all servers...

Why would you want the Awardspace settings on a normal site? The Awardspace servers are not standard and cause unnecessary problems. I see no benefit in changing the permissions to match Awardspace sites...

I was going to do it so I dont have to change the file permissions of every single file from my site, but if it will cause issues ill change em to 755 |

You won't have to. If you upload your files to an IX server, they will automatically be set to 644, but if you upload them to an Awardspace site, they will automatically be set to 755. The server software correctly sets the file and folder permissions for you...

Wow I'm feeling a little hijacked here...
Anyway..
I decided to start with something easier than code crush since I havent gotten a response about its compatibility with EasyMOD yet.
So.
I installed slide menu first it was very simple and went perfectly.
Next I installed Extreme Styles many many files seamed to go off with out a hitch.
Next I installed simple subforums. The installation went well with no errors. It gave a notice that it was dependent on Extreme styles. But since it is already installed I naturally figure that its all good..
Went to look for sub forum option in the ACP and can find them no where.
So I wonder if this will work in 2.0.22 or only up to 2.0.21?
Edit: ha ha to late fixed it myself.
Once I start movin' ya gotta be quick!
